Only this pathetic team could F things up this bad when they had all the chips to trade and no reason to keep anyone.  Epic failures.  All of them.

How dare they tell Crochet to say that we won't pitch in the post season without a contract extension.  They was a bad move by Getz.

I don't think he has a leg to stand on here. He's under contract. If his team is in the playoffs, he's going to refuse to pitch?

George Kirby was threatening this last year...

How in the world is this the Sox fault?

If they'd given him a reasonable extension they would be on top of the world now.

Think of all the guys like Gio Anderson Kopech Lopez Burger Vaughn they didn't consider backing.

Montgomery and Crochet were the only interesting talents left to possibly invest in across the entire organization.

Your last paragraph is insane. What are you talking about?

I’m sure teams aren’t exactly fond of his attitude now, and will be agree to pitch 200 innings if possible next year without an extension?

Of course. This entire spring here was one long argument about how the White Sox should take 3 years to ramp up Crochet, and how dangerous what they were attempting was. I seriously believe Crochet's ask is about the risk of this season, and not subsequent seasons.

Blow out arm because team that acquired him decides they don't have time for an innings cap and if he gets injured, he's cheap. James Andrews recommended Matt Harvey sit out the 2015 playoffs, he didn't and was never the same.

OR

Receive generational wealth from a team, which also makes your health a priority for the team.

It's why Rodon was practically destroyed.

Only a $3 million commitment and no buyout or QO for $18 million on the line to protect.

Exactly

Guys with no trade clauses renegotiate their deals when traded. Nobody's complaining about their attitude when it happens. No GM worth his salt is going to let a 2nd hand quote stop them from acquiring a game changing pitcher.

If you want to read the article just archive it and read it. I don't know how people are blaming the White Sox for this. It's the usual BS around the deadline. Sellers are in control and nobody wants to trade prospects. Some will cave and some won't.

It does help the resource rich, risk taking or more foreward thinking entrepreneurial teams.

Ones that for example hand out Matsumoto money or Ohtani future dollars.  Glasnow, etc.

So wish the Sox would at least consider Sasaki with their Pitchers First plan.  They won't be swimming in that lane ever again, at least while JR is still alive.

Yeah, there's plenty to blame the Sox for in the past decade+, but this was them being blindsided. I guess this just kind of gets lumped in with all the other random shite that happens with this cursed franchise.

Half the article is teams complaining about prices and doing the "well we might have to move onto player X". Wow what a surprise. This is totally exclusive to this deadline and completely Chris Getz's fault.

Okay...so basically (Danks) Benintendi Moncada and Jimenez made the Sox gunshy to ever offer an early extension again.

Where is this future core that's locked in?

Where is the Sox version of Chourio or Colton Keith?

All that money that could have gone to extensions is going WHERE exactly?

JR's pocket.

Now with the Montgomery erosion of value... yet another excuse to never offer an early extension again.  Same  with Vaughn and Torkelson never really peaking.  Madrigal flaming out.

So an early extension will go to Schultz or Grant Taylor?

No way.

Thorpe?  What if his command goes south and he can't get it back again?

Zero position prospects unless Montgomery's back heals.

That only leaves Quero, essentially.  He's the definition of a complementary player.

And even Smith has a number of future injury red flags.

How? If he pitches a full load through to the end of the year without issue, he's good to go in the off-season.

Cuz this report makes him kinda seem like a tool which could turn off teams. Plus if I am a team.. Why would i trade for him in the offseason when he's only had 1 massively successful year.  If I am the GM I'd probably wait till the deadline to make sure he's "for real".

Now the Sox are on the hook for another half a season.. eek

They usually get a little kicker. Crochet isn't getting jack. And if he is traded to a playoff team and is healthy, he will pitch in the playoffs without an extension.

It sure as hell seems to have scared off teams, as he went from almost definitely getting traded to very unlikely.

Down the road Crochet not getting traded at the trading deadline might turn out to to be the best thing that happened.

Trades for Arozarena Br.Rodgers (extension OR signing HS Kim) and Winker (extension) along with keeping Crochet and Robert could have provided them a puncher's shot if almost everything broke right with pitching development and health.

Sergio Santos named next manager for 2025 as of today.

His value was always going to be complicated this season because of the eventual limit of innings. It seemed more likely the past few weeks but now it seems like it won't until the offseason.

Edit: a team might have been able work with him and give him 1-inning starts and then had him pitch in postseason but the extension comments hurt that.

At this point just option him and get back a year of service time. Increase that trade value for the offseason move. f*** him.

How long would he need to stay down?  They were good to him this year and he fucked them at the end.
