Who cares? I almost didn't post to keep the replies at 0. that's really what this thread deserves.

Just seems like a precursor to an infielder getting dealt

Senzel also plays the outfield.  Dude can’t hit a lick.  Already 29 years old and bad.  He has a -2.2 bWAR for his career.  Another crappy player right up Getz’s alley.  Just gonna waste at bats on a proven scrub.

Who would you rather they waste them on?

Rush minor league players who aren't ready?

Colas or Baldwin, depending on where this stupid front office plans on playing Senzel, outfield or infield.

Colas maybe. Baldwin has barely been in AAA. Why take the chance on rushing him?

Or Robert.  Senzel also played CF for the Reds prior to this year.  But I would agree with you that it is likely DeJong.

This would make sense as I'm not sure they have a CF anywhere ready.

If it keeps them from rushing a prospect that isn’t ready yet, I’m good with it.

Baldwin will be 24 in a month and isn’t a top prospect.  See what he can do.  Remember when Getz called up Bryan Ramos from AA with crappy numbers earlier this season?  Now THAT was rushing a prospect.

This signing is perfectly fine. Warm body who was once a promising prospect for a team that is going to be moving a bunch of guys up til the deadline.

Let's not pretend there are a bunch of prospects forcing the issue that should be called up instead.

A bunch of us would argue Baldwin is a top prospect. Industry ranking be damned. Let him simmer in AAA. He just got there.

He would probably complain that he was rushed if they did call him up.

There is more to promotion than numbers. Ramos had to come up as they had no one else who wasn't injured that could play 3B.

Age isn't a determinant of readiness unless you truly don't care about a prospect. Which they may not and could bring them up regardless.
