LOL. $3 million for 16IP with 6.75 ERA

$187,500 per inning pitched

303 pitches thrown, $9,901 per pitch.

Nice work, if you can get it. Oh yeah...sorry he's hurt.

More wasted JR money but he's OK with handing that out to stiffs, has-been's and injury prone guys.

But give 25 million to a franchise changing player like Bryce Harper?

Oh no,  can't do that...it offends his sense of fiscal responsibility! ?

Now most of it will be covered by insurance.

Par for the course for the Sox FO.  In the meantime, Dylan Cease just threw a no hitter, Padres getting more bang for the buck with Cease.

Getz is awful.  No one wanted him last year, and yes I know about his contract and buyout but the Sox could’ve eaten it if they wanted to trade him.

Also, take a look at how Jake McCarthy is doing, whom Getz and Josh Barfield chose Dominic Fletcher over.  These guys are terrible at their jobs.  They hit on one guy — Fedde — congratulations.  If he isn’t traded for a starting position player it won’t have meant much.

That's not the point.

It's the basic philosophy that he has had for decades.

So insurance covers it in this particular case.

You want me to list all the stiffs, has-been's, never-was's and rehabbing clowns they have had to actually pay for the last decade?

I'd be happy to do so, the list is quite lllooonnnggg.

Clevinger's White Sox value was objectively sensational. He accumulated more than $20MM in WAR for $11MM.

Who cares?  They got nothing for him in return in a trade, which was the entire point of signing a flip candidate like him two years in a row.  No one wanted him last year cuz he may have beaten his girlfriend, and the Sox signed him already knowing that.

Exactly. They lost 100 games with him last year and they are going to lose 100+ games this year.

JR seems to have no problem throwing money down the toilet on guys who clearly are done but it seems to personally offend him to hand out a mega-contract to a potential franchise changing talent.

It literally makes no sense at all.
