A typical arrangement puts a few guys on a list, and then the receiving team has some period of time to decide which of them they want. Lip Man 1
https://www.cbssports.com/mlb/news/mlb-trade-grades-why-dodgers-cardinals-both-get-an-a-for-three-team-deadline-deal-with-white-sox/ White Sox get a D grade. For whatever it's worth, three evaluators with rival teams we spoke to agreed that this package felt light. Maybe the White Sox see something -- in Vargas, but also Albertus and Perez -- that will allow them to get the last laugh. 1
caulfield12
https://www.baseballamerica.com/stories/dodgers-cardinals-white-sox-three-team-trade-scouting-reports-on-every-player/ In depth reports on trade. Both secondary prospects noted for their lack of standout tools that would allow them to really break out. Seems like just more versions of Sosa Ramos Ja.Gonzalez and Baldwin. Fringe. Freely accessible content at Baseball America home page Alexander Albertus, 2B/3B Age: 19 Albertus, who was signed out of Aruba in 2022, is one of the prospects in the lower levels of the Dodgers’ system with the highest floor. His swing gets to the zone quickly and he keeps the barrel in the zone for a long time, which should give him plenty of hittability and the potential for average power as he matures. Though he’s played mostly third base so far, he’s gotten some exposure at second base and there are evaluators who believe he might wind up at first base as well. Albertus doesn’t have a plus tool on the card, but his hit tool and power both settle in as 50s on the 20-to-80 scouting scale. Jeral Perez, 2B Age: 19 Perez announced his presence loudly in 2023, when he led the Rookie-level Arizona Complex League in home runs. He started hot again this year with Low-A Rancho Cucamonga, where he was one of the best hitters in the minor leagues in the early portion of the season. He’s a well-rounded player without a standout tool. Perez might push 50 grades on the 20-to-80 scouting scale for both hitting and power, though some scouts believe both of those tools might only get to fringe-average thanks to a lengthier swing and a vulnerability against spin. On defense, Perez shows limited range at second base and has gotten some reps at third base as well. His ceiling is as a bat-first utility infielder Edited July 29 by caulfield12

T R U
There is a 0.0 percent chance this was the best deal on the table for Fedde. I refuse to believe that.
The Mighty Mite
I wasn’t going to say anything because I hate rebuilds but I have absolutely no confidence in Getz or anybody else in this organization having a successful rebuild. Good organizations don’t do rebuilds, they develop players in farm systems and fill in the missing pieces with smart trades and free agent signings.

southsider2k5
13 minutes ago, WBWSF said: Wouldn't the team be better off if Fedde wasn't traded and still on the team? To get nothing for him is bad. I remember when Hahn traded David Robertson to the Yankees for nothing. I couldn't relate trading a good pitcher for nothing. Trading Fedde for nothing is similar to the Robertson trade. This was nothing but a salary dump. The payroll next year will probably be the lowest in MLB. Low payroll equals big profits for JR. I would have rather held on to him and rode him into the offseason versus taking this return, even as a quickly depreciating asset. There is no way this was the best deal on the table.
