Bloss?

This doesn’t seem like anything for Sox fans to get up in arms about. Bloss is an a ball player over elevated into bigs due to injuries and a number 9 prospect in a system not loaded.

Loperfido isn’t a terrible comp in value for Vargas. Big AAA performance, old for that level, has done tolerably at the big league level for a rookie but not breakout numbers. Needs to cut down on the Ks to be anything but a backup.

Yes it is. Vargas was a top 40 prospect in baseball because he gets on base at a .400 clip and he has like 70 minor league homers. Loperfido is older than him and has to stay off 1B to be anything basically

Loperfido has more home runs in the last 2 years than Vargas has in the last three.

Come on man.

We’re comparing Kukuchi to Fedde here. One is a rental player worth 0.2 WAR this year and the other is controlled through next year and 4.7 WAR. Fedde is much, much more valuable, not even close.

The fact that TOR got 2 MLB ready players who are recently top 5 prospects in the org for Kukuchi and Sox gotten peanuts while giving up much more shows and is getting mocked by national writers speaks to truly awful of a trade that was.

I’m not denying that. I just don’t think the Jays return is great. Houston has worst system in the league. Both 19 year olds the Sox acquired would be like top 8 prospects in that system.

It’s not peanuts though. They’re betting big on Miguel Vargas and the return is a player short for sure. Most people are just being hyperbolic online though.

Feel like it's a big piece from the Cardinals short. They still make out like bandits in that deal.

Would love to know how much $$$ the Sox saved in total from this. It’s the only factor that makes any sense at all. Vargas is a R/R DH. To ever amass 4.6 WAR, he’ll have to be Frank Thomas/Dick Allen.

Its pretty funny Getz said Pham's market as a RH OF was next to zero, a new industry standard, yet put an pretty high premium on this dope.

Fedde was $7.5 million for the entire season, 1/3 of that is like $2.5 million.  Pham is $3 million, so a million there.  Kopech appears to be $2 million, so 700k there.  Subtract out the 800k total for three minimum wage salaries for 1/3 of a year and we are talking like $3.5 million in savings, depending on what the cash part of the deal looks like.
