I'm kinda scared to hear that. A too "noisy" hand load can hurt you and cause timing issues and it can make sense to quiet it down, especially when you are wild like Gary sheffield but vargas already has a pretty small and quiet hand load.

I'm working with some hitters and I don't love the slight hand lift he does and would prefer the load to be more "connected" to the shoulders (more in line with the natural coiling of the hips and trunk) but it still isn't a very noisy load and with the sox "expertise" in player development I fear they will deaden his hands completely and kill the bit of power he has making him a total slap guy like the sox did with so many hitters

Why do you want to take AB's away from Tim Elko-Burger.  Benintendi has to go.

Even after the trades this continues to be an absurd construction.  The payroll commitments for 25 are now a shade over $35 million.  This franchise is sitting at around a $55 million payroll with Robert and Benny on the books, and dumping dead weight like Nicky and Vaughn.  Even including them we are talking like $65 million.   If they don't want him, cut him like any real MLB franchise would.  They can easily set $25 million on fire just like they did last year and save Jerry plenty of his kids future inheritance, cutting payroll to under $100 million like a 3rd world MLB franchise.

Had to post here due to lack of game thread. I just saw Vargas have the worst AB a player

could have. Took 2 right down the middle then swung at a high pitch for strike 3. He was

probably seeing better pitches with LA having a good line up with  no go arounds. But this

guy is a disgrace. Getz should just admit his mistake and bench him. Any line up with vargas

in it is a joke.

I think Getz is going to make even bigger mistakes.

Has anyone mentioned yet that one of the reasons why Vargas might be struggling even more, and one reason why he might be extra concerned, is that he went from an organization where he asks for help and gets "here's our 400 page textbook on this pitcher, would you like to spend 3 hours in our virtual reality simulator seeing his pitches" as a reply, to an organization where he asks for help and gets "We think this guy might throw a fastball you should be ready for that" as a reply?

"Former pitchers describe Chicago's game planning as almost rudimentary. Rather than provide individual plans for each hitter, the White Sox offer generalities such as, "your sinker will play down in the zone" - an insufficient answer against, say, a lineup full of left-handed hitters who handle sinkers in that area. Minor league pitchers with high walk totals were told things like "work on your command," with no other specifics, in the offseason.

Hitters expressed similar concerns. "They had information," one former position player said. "But you didn't get an explanation or a plan."

-I wasn't kidding above, this has to be eating at this kid.

The only plan in this organization is to suck at baseball and destroy a fanbase.   The latter is what Reinsdorf is consistent at.

The Athletic article pretty much points out that the Sox can't fix Vargas cause the Sox don't know how to fix it. The Dodgers probably gave Vargas a ton of information on how to approach pitchers, where they'll attack him, etc. The Sox probably just tell him to be patient and good luck.

I mean sure, but it's not like the Dodgers are actually really developing hitters themselves.

They usually get the most out of veterans...Edman right now, Heyward at various times as well.

Long list of guys like k*** Muncy Taylor Turner whose careers were saved or resuscitated.  Lux is fine for what he is.

Outman last year Pages first half this year...younger guys.

It's their starting rotation and Bullpen that will probably doom them again this year.

Not exactly getting any high first rounders either.

He's a slap hitter. His load in his lower body is non existent for a pro and his levers aren't long enough to make up any power. A total scouting whiff and one that you didn't need to be much of a scout to see as many of us here said at the time.

It's almost like we should have had real scouts looking at him instead of a soon to be fired assistant hitting coach.

It's a shock that a guy with a career OPS+ of 68 prefers a shitty slap hitter?
