I just can’t understand this thinking.   I would fire flus if he ran the table, this guy sucks and we all know it

correct. Though if he did that, they'll keep him, and once again i'll have to convince myself "but maybe it will work for us?"

That said...I just don't want to see the players fail.

I mean, I want Flus gone as well. But if he ran the table, they would finish the season 12-5, without question make the playoffs, and these last three weeks would be an absolute afterthought.

It'd be this, which is basically every GM in this town:

Yea I know, it’s crazy and likely more hyperbole, but It also will not happen, and we both know that.  And the tragedy for me is what Dick wrote, in that 9-8 is an acceptable record to keep him, as if slightly above .500 record in the final 8 games keeps him as HC.  We heard the same things last season, and it was an absolute mirage and it has COST the bears dearly in development time for the entire organization, not just Caleb.  But it has cost Caleb a lot because he very likely will be on his third OC within 3 months

and DA, this isn’t a shot at you.  You are far from the only person I have heard that will accept 9-8 as a reason to keep him.

I also agree that if they are 9-8, really no matter how they get there, he should be gone. Also don't think it's mathematically possible, but if they won 9 games and somehow made the playoffs, there is no way he doesn't come back. Again, everyone here is agreeing no one wants Flus back, I think we're talking about realistically what WILL happen...but I certainly hope internally, he would have to pull off some real magic to keep his job at the end of the year. He should have been fired last season, and certainly this Monday....but here we are.

The likelihood of them going 9-8 is on par with Chris Getz saving a year of learning by a new GM.  If everything went right they were not finishing the year 4-4 based on the quality of opponents.

They needed to be 6-3 at this point to maybe make the playoffs.

This is like arguing about Chris Sale getting traded, and some fans not understanding no one WANTS to trade him, but they understand the situation the Sox are in.

I don't think they are going 9-8. Neither does Dick Allen. We're simply stating how  he would stay

I want Caleb to get back on track, but The last thing I want is another late season mirage that convinces everyone that Flus figured it out again.  I don’t believe they will but if we are sitting here at the end of the season and they pulled off a 4-4 record from now,  I could absolutely see that happening

So many are quick to dismiss this scenario, but I agree with you. If the Bears finish 4-4 they may still remain winless on the road (albeit against tough opponents), but a lot depends on how those games fare. If they play to their talent, it’s entirely possible.

Are they close losses/wins? Are there more losses where the Bears have a 90%+ probability of winning? The bar has already been set so low for this team because of their strength of schedule.

Also, If Williams has “improved” (which is subjective, but let’s say much better than his recent spiral), does Brown stay as OC?  Are we looking for a new HC who will bring in his own OC? If Williams does look much better, I could really see the org keeping everything in place for continuity purposes.

I believe this leaves Flus at 3-22 as a head coach on the road

so to get back to .500 he would need to go 2 1/2 seasons undefeated on the road.  I don’t know about you guys but I don’t think he gets there

I meant of the 8 remaining games, 4 are at home; and in that hypothetical scenario if they were to go 4-4, I could see those 4 wins coming at home.

I was throwing out a, “most realistic” best case scenario

No, I’m not correcting you.  I’m just throwing out out fearless leaders numbers on the road for context in finishing this season

Williams is having one of the worst QB seasons in recent memory, ranking last among 106 quarterbacks since 2021 in catchable throw rate. He also ranks last in pressure-to-sack ratio over that span.

Chicago’s offensive line has been average in pass blocking, while Williams has the highest average time to pressure in the league. When not pressured, Williams ranks 31st in Success Rate. He has the worst completion percentage on throws 15+ yards among 468 QBs over the past 15 years. Williams’ first career nine starts haven’t been quite as bad as Bryce Young or David Carr, but he’s right in their territory.

Williams has faced the third easiest schedule-adjusted QB schedule so far! And he gets the eighth toughest moving forward. When not facing Jacksonville or Carolina defenses that rank bottom-three in EPA/pass this season, Williams has averaged 179.3 passing yards (5.3 YPA!) with only three touchdown passes over seven games. The Bears fired OC Shane Waldron, and even the discussion of benching Williams is shocking for someone with his college resume. Reportedly, some veteran teammates are calling for Tyson Bagent.

Coaching and the OL is the ultimate problem but yikes, give me Saquon Barkley over D’Andre Swift and Nate Davis.  Guess who cost more?

Gotta love the “THANK YOU GIANTS!!!” chant by the Eagles fans as Barkley is being interviewed in the postgame show.

Poles needs to be on the hot seat at this point.  He recognizes star players about as well as Getz.  Keeping Eberloser around for another year and hiring Waldron should only give him one more season to prove himself as GM.  And Kevin Warren has done absolutely nothing.

Poles worried more about adding a ton of offensive weapons (Keenan Allen and Swift, LOL), while thinking a piece of garbage makeshift OL could protect long enough for a rookie QB to sling it around.  Poles is a dipshit just like the rest of them.

He would have been better off acquiring as much OL as he could and played Roschon and Herbert at RB and less Allen at WR.

Since 2000, the Ravens and Steelers has been one of the best rilvaries in the NFL, and entering this Sunday, since 2000, the point differential in their matchups is 3 points.

Without looking it up, anyone have a guess what the point differential is between the Bears and Packers since 2000?

All know is they are 15-50 since 92 and on a 10 game losing streak, so I’m guessing that point difference number is embarrassing

The McCaskey family hired him for one reason only and it has nothing to do with what happens on the field, he was hired to somehow extort a new stadium for them.
