I agree - they had no good options though, which shows you how weak the staff Flus and Poles put together was. I guess from a locker on perspective Brown is the one guy with juice - Washington seems like he has a bit too so I presume Brown will turn the defense to him and focus on offense plus a few other things but ultimately it’s going to be a lot of work for Brown. Obviously the important thing is that Flus is finally gone just hilarious how they handled it.

Taking a RB is putting the final touches on a complete team, almost like using a 4th on a punter…when this team is dreadfully short on OL and DL, probably the two most important positions on the field after QB…that’s where all their attention should be. This is about the least complicated draft in recent memory for the Bears. Having watched how the elite, highly paid and highly drafted RBs are affecting their teams this year, I’m not sure I’d commit a top 10 pick to Jeanty which is where he will probably go given the Bears lines, but the RBs are replaceable attitude doesn’t describe this season very well. But a quick check says that prior to cuts and extensions the Bears currently are top 5 in available cap space, so they do have multiple ways to improve next year. When you’re the Ravens or Eagles(and to a lesser extent the packers) and are loaded everywhere then grabbing up an elite rb can definitely be a top priority. When you’re the Bears and have numerous holes on the lines and you need to protect your franchise qb then drafting a rb in the 1st rd is just a bad idea. WhiteSox2023
I love how Eberflus just said he’d be coaching the next game against the 49’ers. 🤣 Like I said after the game, no coach should survive with his job after running out of time in a game with a timeout left. Poles should absolutely be on the hot seat now for not even entertaining the idea of Harbaugh. Edited November 29 by WhiteSox2023

To have Brown focus more on the offense. Now he's got another set of things to worry about. What's funny is that Brown's play calls kind of caused that disaster yesterday. I'm not sure if the QB draw call was from Brown or just something the team does when they get into late game situations (see Washington game), but I don't think Brown was blameless for the situation he put the team in. The call coming in late to Caleb also made it even worse.
Lip Man 1
Better late than never. So who is the next milquetoast stiff this dysfunctional organization will hire in order to fire two or three years later?

Not considering anyone last year was stupid in general. There were a really good set of free agent coaches out there. Hell Vrabel and Belichick are still available. Ben Johnson also apparently had interest in the Bears job and I wonder if he stayed in Detroit just in case the Bears job became available. Because it sure as hell seemed like he wanted no part in the Commanders job.

Reset and know you have 25 seconds to get a play in and get down and spike. Problem is that it was 3rd and 26, and unless you connect of a big play for a first down then you can spike the ball and that is highly unlikely, only option you have there are out routes and the Lions DBs would be waiting for that, and throwing in the middle of the field to get Santos within comfortable FG range, I don't see that they would have enough time to quickly set up the FG try, I could be wrong though. Harry Chappas
How does his firing show they are serious? Yesterday's ending was beyond embarassing. Thomas Brown will be given remainder of this year and next as HC. They are not a serious organization.

If the play works, then this. NO one had a fucking clue what to do after the sack. It took them 20 seconds to get a play in. My high school can do crunch time better than this. And when you see your team is a disaster, call a time out AND THEN set the next two plays, complete with the important sets of IF and THENs.

There doesn’t have to be a hard and fast rule that you MUST either draft BPA or draft for need, it should be fluid. If the BPA at Pick 10 was a QB, that would be a mistake for the Bears, given their roster and where they are. There will be plenty of players with high draft grades that also fit a need for where the roster is weak I never said draft BPA. Some years there are certain positions stacked with top talent, and others that are weak. 2023 TE class, for example. I think the teams that make sure to dive into those pools end up with better classes. I didn’t say it had to be with with any one pick. Your “no RBs until the fourth” was much more rigid. You said they should consider one in Round 2, so I’m not sure how I was “much more rigid.” My point this entire time is given the make up of this team, OL and DL is far more important than using capital on a RB in the 2nd round.

He was passing game coordinator in 2021 and that was the year they drafted Sewell, and this is his third year as OC, so figuring out ways to make his OLine play well and look good is a part of his job. Presumably he would have been involved in drafting Gibbs and signing Montgomery and those have worked well.
