I think Caleb is a bit shell-shocked with that horrible OL and that's messing up his confidence and his accuracy, can't blame the kid, he's taken care of the ball all season and that fumble was totally not on him, never even saw the defender come in from his blind side. That fumble was bad because swift should have chipped the defender to help amegadje, instead he was on an island and it blew up
LittleHurtCG
This team is nowhere close to competing for a playoff spot. Poles needs to be fired in the off-season 100%. A whole new front office and coaching staff needs to be brought in. Let someone with some actual football acumen evaluate Caleb Williams. If that means flipping him this offseason then so be it. What has he accomplished in his role other then to build out non-football roles? The product on the field is worse then ever and they are destroying the one thing they have never had until this year. Yes Williams does not look that good but for God's sake he is on his third OC of the season and the OL is an absolute joke. That third round OL pick is an embarrassment. They are in no position to draft projects. Poles thought this roster was talented enough to cover for the 3rd round project and then to use 4th round pick on a punter. He got them from point A to B thanks to Lovie Smith. Without that pick we are worse off than we are now which is saying something. Now we will gamble on an inexperienced coordinator to change the organization with zero support from the clown shoes at Halas Hall. Good luck with that.

He did not seem impressed with the golden boy at all. The Bears have done Caleb no favors with the offensive line that is for sure. However, Caleb is still holding onto the ball way too long and trying to play hero ball out there. He is also missing receivers left and right and his downfield accuracy is terrible. How do you coach a dude to be more accurate? That is not something that is done often.
MexSoxFan#1
Why on Earth would you flip a rookie QB with a ton of talent surrounded by a circus of an OL and 3 OCs in one season? That makes zero sense. Get him competent coaches and fix up the OL, that should be the Bears priority.

He's been sacked 58 times so far, and way more than half have not been his fault, our OCs cannot scheme receivers open to save their lives...you don't give up on a highly touted rookie QB after one season, that's crazy talk, especially considering the circumstances, Peyton Manning was terrible in his rookie season...not saying Caleb will become Peyton but just putting it out there that you don't flip a #1 pick rookie QB after his first season lol.
Harry Chappas
Bears fans looking at this dumpster fire of an organization and seeing fault in Caleb Williams need to understand the role that coaching and scheme play. This organization has done nothing to help him become an NFL quarterback. Denver and Washington have guys that develop quarterbacks working with them. Williams is on his third OC. We have learned nothing about how good Williams may or may not be. Aikman is looking at it through the lense of one game. The dude playing LT should be safely tucked away on the practice squad. You think that is not going through Caleb's head? There are zero qualified people in that organization to work with him. Thomas Brown who I am sure they hoped would do well and be the HC for cheap is looking a lot more like the guy he was in Carolina. Hopefully Joe Brady takes the job as if Ben Johnson is looking for a good organization the Bears are not it. The hoopla and pageantry of being a founding team means nothing. That literally is their only selling point. Edited December 17 by Harry Chappas

Such a bears fans idea to send off the 1 pick because you aren’t satisfied immediately lmao troy was just as complimentary as he was critical and made sure to point out that everything around Caleb on the line was garbage

Yep, QBs like Jayden Daniels or CJ Stroud who right away look legit are the outlier, not the standard, we should be patient with Caleb, especially considering the clusterfuck surrounding him. I hoping against all odds that the Bears finally do something right and surround him with competent coaching and a solid OL. That shouldn't be mission impossible but it's the Bears we're talking about.

Williams is surrounded by a bunch of Bozos. The organization does not value coaching at all and may value it less then the White Sox. The entire organizational mission is to be a mom and pop thing where everyone loves Virginia and hates the Packers. The fact the Packers thoroughly emasculated them for the past 30 years and Virginia, Michael and now and ticket manager turned CEO have zero clue on how to address this issue. The team accountant was in charge for many years....yes that's who you want running the franchise. Sadly death (Bears, Bulls and Sox won't be sold) is the only way Chicago organizations change.

I actually thought the opposite - Troy was honest and articulate - highlighted his weakness but also recognized he has tons of talent and that he will learn through this year. Outside of Vrabel or Johnson - I do think the other coach I would at least consider is Kingsbury for his experience and fact that he has at least simplified and ran an offense to fit his young QB's strengths. Basic concept but the Bears literally threw that script out and designed about as bad of a QB friendly offense as possible (or at least as it relates to rookie QB friendly). Brown is inheriting it and is stuck with it to some extent - but I think Troy commented that Waldron was using play-action less than most and Brown is doing it even less...talk about making things hard on your young QB.

Flash Tizzle
Poles should be devoting 80+% of his draft AND FA funds to upgrading the offensive line. Yes, there are upgrades needed on defense as well; but think about the #1 metric by which Poles will be judged - the development of CW. Poles must do everything he can, even if it borders on tampering, to let Trey Smith know the Bears will reset the market and give the man his bag. When you envision the different scenarios for 2025, one where the Bears are in a Bengals situation (Top 10 offense, bottom 5 defense, in the playoff hunt, but possibly below .500) would be my goal. If we have to forsake defense for offense, it’s a risk I’m willing to take. Get the most important position, right, then worry about the other pieces in the upcoming seasons while he is still cheap. The defense will be helped immensely by an offense who can keep the defense off of the field for longer periods of time.
