Him and Vrabel are 1A and 1B. Pete Carroll is also acceptable for me. Those 3 are the no brainers - hire one of them and you are getting a top no brainer candidate. This does not mean they will crush it - we don’t know what will happen - but they are clearly the top 3 candidates by far. Flores and Kingsbury have some shine too - but to me those are the guys you are settling on vs the other 3 names. For record I am completely out on Poles. I think him and Flus lack the killer instinct / unrelentlessness to win at all costs needed to succeed in NFL. Poles doesn’t win on the margins and was way too complacent with roster construction and usage of later round assets (2 punters in draft - Taylor I’m fine with- he’s going to be elite but drafting the other dude - stupid). The number of picks he gave up for guys who have done nothing is suspect (Bates, Seattle guy was alright, but there were a few more past couple of years). Too many luxury picks because he overhyped his own stuff and wasn’t always pushing deep competition and talent. Reminds me of Hahn - can do the no brainer stuff fine but when s%*# gets real he consistently s%*# the bed and made stupid little move after stupid little move. Chisoxfn
Reality is - margins are razor thin in NFL - so it’s the real little things that matter (beyond having an awesome qb - cause that can overcome a ton).

I'm not saying he's Nagy 2.0 because he's far from it (he's a much better off offensive mind) but he does alot of the same gimmicky plays with the luxury of having an elite offensive line. The Bears could draft and/or sign 4 new offensive lineman (which is pretty much what they need to do minus Darnell Wright) and they still likely won't have a top 10 offensive line like the Lions do. Could he be the next O'Connell/Shanahan/Lafleur offensive mind stud coach? Possibly. He could also easily he the next Josh McDaniels. It would be yet another first year head coach you are risking to be put in this position in this organization. To me Vrabel is the clear choice. He's a defensive guy sure, but he's also worked with the offensive guys too (was a TE coach in Cleveland after taking the year off) and having a guy who knows ball on both sides of it is CRUCIAL in this. But I also don't think the McCaskeys would ever sign off on a guy with his in your face personality. They didn't sign off on Harbaugh for that same reason. They want a "yes" man which is why quite a few have said things won't change until ownership does. I don’t get the Nagy comparison at all for Johnson. Ben is the visionary of the Lions offense, whereas Nagy who was a clear second in command who had play calling taken away from him one point because he wasn’t delivering. I get a good O-Line can make things look better, but what Johnson has put together in Detroit is incredible. He runs some gimmicky plays, but to pretend that’s his whole schtick is wild to me. The dude is an incredible play caller and knows how to run an offense that best utilizes all of his weapons. There are no guarantees with a first time HC, but he’s 100% the dude we need to hire IMO. I literally said I'm not saying he's Nagy 2.0 because hes FAR from it. Nagy didn't run his own offense like Johnson does. I only compared the gimmicky plays they both do on a regular basis. Johnson can get away with alot of it cause of the elite offensive line Detroit has built.

SoxAce Posted yesterday at 06:21 PM Share Posted yesterday at 06:21 PM Gonna be so Bears to win the last game of the season against Green Bay when they will likely rest their guys the second half and screw up their draft position.

Flash Tizzle Posted yesterday at 06:48 PM Share Posted yesterday at 06:48 PM This is about the worst case scenario. Winning 14-3 and Caleb looks like garbage

Chisoxfn Posted yesterday at 06:58 PM Author Share Posted yesterday at 06:58 PM Josh Jacobs is just another reason why you fire Poles. He consistently has picked the wrong guys. Went cheap on Saquon and than chose Swift over Jacobs.

Flash Tizzle Posted yesterday at 07:11 PM Share Posted yesterday at 07:11 PM So why can’t the Bears have any downfield offense? They can’t even attempt anything beyond the line of scrimmage? This just looks atrocious. It’s the final game of the season. And if you’re a coach on the Bears sideline, you have to know you’re gone. Why not try something aside from quick passes to Moore behind the line of scrimmage?
