Chicago White Sox Posted yesterday at 02:38 PM Share Posted yesterday at 02:38 PM So planned interviews so far: Ben Johnson (OC / DET) Aaron Glenn (DC / DET) Anthony Weaver (DC / MIA) Vance Joseph (DC / DEN) Jets not planning to interview Johnson. Glenn apparently a favorite of both the Jets and the Saints. Vrabel makes a lot of sense for the Patriots. The Jaguars keeping their GM Trend Baalke may impact the attractiveness of the HC role. Johnson should be ours for the taking potentially…

We know he’s not happy about Warren taking on some control and there have already been some rumors out there about him not being interested in Johnson due to self preservation. I want to be an optimist here because Caleb, the Chicago market, a bunch of picks, and a boatload of cap space should place us head and shoulders above the Jaguars, Jets, & Saints. But for whatever reason, the Bears never want to make the obvious hire and that usually costs us. If Johnson is the real deal, Poles looks like a genius and gets to keep his job for as long as he wants and will look like an "architect' building a winner. If he picks someone else and they are bad then he will never be a GM again. It would be so stupid for Poles to not want Johnson, but I don't know the guy or how he thinks - so maybe he would be mad if Johnson starts getting credit or something.
bmags Posted yesterday at 02:51 PM Share Posted yesterday at 02:51 PM I want Johnson and I want Johnson to pick his GM, personally. If I’m him as soon as I get in the private interview with Warren I ask for my preferred guy on same timeline
Harry Chappas Posted yesterday at 02:57 PM Share Posted yesterday at 02:57 PM Johnson has some connection to the Jacksonville front office and seems to be why the GM was kept. The three finalists when Eberflus was hired were Jim Caldwell, Eberflus and Dan Quinn. For some reason I get the feeling Thomas Brown will be retained. George and the boys seem to not place winning over cost or control. How do to interview those three and determine Eberflus is the better candidate. The organization has done nothing to show they are serious about building out a legitimate front office.

Jets have an open GM too. I’d assume Johnson’s hesitancy with that job were the stories of woody Johnson’s kids making decisions based on madden ratings (which to be fair are better than poles valuations)

Letting it leak that your teenagers are roaming the building in the front office making suggestions based on madden ratings is so 2025
Kyyle23 Posted yesterday at 04:02 PM Share Posted yesterday at 04:02 PM So far Doug Pederson first name fired. Sounds like Giants are keeping Daboll and Schoen. Jets are NOT requesting Ben Johnson to interview
bmags Posted yesterday at 07:13 PM Share Posted yesterday at 07:13 PM This Ben Johnson chase reminds me of the white Sox 2018 offseason where our ability to land them seems a lot more based on other teams hopefully not deciding to land him than us getting him.

Chisoxfn Posted yesterday at 10:17 PM Author Share Posted yesterday at 10:17 PM Flores, McCarthy, Vance, Arthur Smith, Johnson, Thomas Brown have all been confirmed requests. Vrabel I saw one place but haven’t seen reported as widely? Am I missing anyone yet? I know McCarthy isn’t sexy but he is 13th all time in wins and very experienced…think it is smart to at least pick his brain and get his perspective. Same with Arthur Smith…if you are going with Vrabel do you want to at least “talk” To Smith to learn who he is and maybe get an idea of how interested he might be in joining Vrabel? Obviously Steelers could block it…but maybe he gets assistant HC gig plus OC so it is considered a promo?

We probably wouldn’t hear with Vrabel because most of the leaks are due to the nature of the request. I wouldn’t put smith at same level as McCarthy…McCarthy actually wins. I thought their offense would collapse without Moore, only to be more explosive last year. He’s a good coach, I wouldn’t hate it, he definitely needs right mix of players. He definitely can hire a damn staff that’s for sure. Now with Smith, the feather in his cap is probably that the falcons talent wasn’t what we thought, maybe he’s better than assumed. He’d be low on my list though.
SoxAce Posted yesterday at 11:01 PM Share Posted yesterday at 11:01 PM For all we know Ben Johnson may love Drake Maye as a QB moreso than Caleb Williams. And New England has an interview with him as well. I still think it's all but Vrabel to the Pats but that would be an interesting twist too. I’d be fine with either for what differences they bring to the table, but I’d really love Ben Johnson in Caleb’s ear.

He may well, that’s why bears need to actually try to get someone others like rather than believe their pathetic interview round robin will surface the best coach. Trust others! Chisoxfn
Also requested Monkin (Ravens OC). Lamar is impressive so don’t know how much is Monkin vs Lamar and having Henry.
