You know what's more comfortable for passengers? First class. You know what sucks? Flying coach. Have you ever seen how most professional athletes fly? The White Sox charter an Airbus320, a plane first manufactured in the 1980s. It features only eight first-class seats; the rest is coach. The article isn't BS at all. It's as thorough a breakdown and evisceration of the worst organization in professional sports, and why they're the worst, as you will ever see. Perhaps you should read it instead of focusing on a minute detail of the article and immediately calling it BS. 2

He doesn't seem to have been aligned with a "side" of Kenny vs. Hahn, seems to highly prioritize staffing up with outsiders, and seems to want the Sox to operate like the teams reputed to operate well. I hated the process that led to his hire and his baseball judgment is clearly suspect. But if he's the Jerry whisperer, and can hire the right people, that could be our way out of the wilderness. Have you seen his trades? No amount of modernizing the org will make up for an idiot decision maker.

It’s weird how two straight seasons the guy who has called out this FO has been a marginal roster vet. Its like they think they’ve seen enough that they’re saying screw it, I’d rather be out of the league than let this hurt other players.
Texsox
f*** these guys if they can't play because they don't like the charter plane. Fly fucking commercial. Sorry if they aren't pampered enough. How about win 63 games and we'll upgrade? 2

Chicago White Sox
Jerry is 88 years old and could potentially live another 12 years. There is no hope for this org until the reaper decides enough is enough. Truly sad what has become of this franchise since 2005.

bmags
I mean people that fly all the time are allowed imo to complain about it but also they need to understand how boring it is. Fortunately for the players, Ken Rosenthal probably flies all the time as well so he probably thought it was the most interesting thing in the world. Second, they fly on a weekly basis. Their charter should be top of the line for a major market team with an owner worth over $2B dollars. Finally....the charter plane isn't being blamed for their s%*# play. It's being cited as a symptom of the cancer that is Jerry Reinsdorf. When your amenities and facilities are second class compared to the rest of the league....why would anyone want to play here? It hinders free agent signings as well as player morale. It's a huge problem. Edited September 19 by Paulie4Pres 6 3 1 1

I don’t think people understand how insane the travel for an MLB team is. Flying that amount and sleeping in hotels put a lot of stress on an athlete trying to stay in literal elite condition physically and mentally. First class vs. coach seating makes an extreme difference. 6

Now imagine making your living as a finely tuned athlete, trying to rest and recuperate in coach flying to a new city after having just flown into a new city during the 6 month grind of the baseball season.

They have reached, or nearly reached, peak physical conditioning and are extracting every ounce of power and force out of their bodies. At this level of competition, you need every single fraction of an advantage against the other team, and that most definitely includes the rest cycle these high performance athletes need to recover to give them the best opportunity NOT to get hurt. Tony
The coach/first class discussion isn’t even about “comfort” It’s about the standard across the league. It’s the same for the analytics department, baseball ops, etc. Everything is done worse on the South Side than it is with 95% of the other teams in the league. Thats the point 11 3
Paulie4Pres
I couldn't imagine being a 6'+ 200+ lb. athlete and flying coach everywhere. It's just unfathomable to me. Flying coach after playing a hockey game the night before is absolutely miserable. Your whole body is tight, you have no room to stretch, you're cramped... These guys are professional athletes. It's absurd to fly coach. Lol
