As I mentioned recently, the franchise is on life support. There have numerous articles lately on how bad an owner JR is, does the man have any kind of a clue, is he showing any remorse at all, does the jerk have any pride at all. If he refuses to sell then he must change his modus operandi and start spending money on free agents and bring in the best GM and field manager he can find, this OJT must stop. Im sure there isn’t one other team that would have hired Getz, this guy should resign immediately, the guy is a compete joke, a failure who is in way over his head. What other team would have hired Grifol, at least someone figured out that he was horrible. If we see a repeat of this year in 2025 the Sox probably will see the fan base dwindle down to nothing, they can then move their games out to Wintrust Field in Schaumburg where they won’t come close to filling the place up.

No, and seemingly no.

Then again, everything is fine, per his brain trust, so why should we care?

It’s not on life support, it’s in hibernation. And it will come back if the commitment is made

How will that be measured?  I think Reinsdorf has no credibility left.

Fans want him hone more than anything else.  If the won 100 games next year it wont change because he has a history of ruining success.

Exactly. Sox fans have always supported the team when it's worth supporting.

JR doesn't give a crap what you or any of us fans think. And we will see a repeat of this year next year because they have already told us they won't be active in FA and they are looking to cut payroll. The Athletic article made it clear that JR is stuck in the past, thinks he knows more than everyone else and is determined to do things his way. Bringing in another GM won't change a damn thing when there are still issues at the root of the organization. They don't spend money where it needs to be spent in order to have a successful organization and that won't change until there is new Ownership.

The Sox have won 100 games one time in 125 years. Right now, I'd like to see them get to 50, Regardless, the FO needs to do something to attract fans, not that they care.

It’s highly likely next year will be as bad.  I’d say worse but that’s near impossible.  A couple of their better hitters will be gone.  Maybe one of their better pitchers.

With the fear of the same cast not being there next season.  All it takes is for a player to want a contract extension or use Boras and Getz will get back to making Birmingham better or trying to improve good farm system rejects.

The issue is trust, not victories.   We know how this plays out.

It seems crazy to think they could be worse. Yet, it's totally possible. If today there was an over under at 45 wins, I'm not certain which way I would go.

Perhaps for some fans. I think many of the million plus that will go to games just want some entertainment value for their money. They aren't really as invested in the past or the future as are folks here.

Yeah, I'd pretty much agree. It's the current ownership group who is on life support. Remove it from the equation and people will come back. Minimal effort from a new owner would be leaps and bounds better than what is currently taking place.

It will be really hard to be less than 40 wins bad again.  Almost the entire team had career worst seasons.  It would impressive to do it again.

It is worth noting that the White Sox have underplayed their pythagorean record this year by a lot, their expected record based on run differential right now is 43-110. While that's not particularly good, it's 7 games better than their current record, and no other team in MLB is more than 5 games worse than their expected record. It's not impossible, the Cardinals are 7 games better than their expected record so 7 games better/worse happens, but just having this move back to 0 would be a major improvement.

Whether that is luck, the effect of a really bad bullpen, or the toxic environment around the White Sox I will not surmise. If it's luck, it's fixable next year just by chance. If it's an effect of the toxic environment...

Would you say "expecting to lose" is a toxic environment?

While I don't value it over most other stats, it seems like winning is a cultural thing and players coming from winning programs bring "luck".
