Sox @ SD Game Thread (9/21) Not Needed; Sox Still Suck

Recommended Posts

Well they did it. 120 losses. Now they have to stay in the 30s in wins. The sad thing is, today's lineup is pretty much next year's lineup. I can't see why they should be any better with that the case. Subtrack Crochet and you get a worse season some how.

Congrats to the 2024 White Sucks on tying the worst team in modern baseball. My hats off to everyone who was apart of this horrid team. This is something to cherish, how often can you claim to be the worst team in modern era baseball? That’s almost as good as winning the World Series. In a few years everyone will forget who the WS champs are, but for a very very VERY long time everyone will know who the 2024 White Sucks are. Good for you all, and congrats to the southsiders. Tip of the Obama hat to you all.

Once again, Getz should be ass canned solely for this crappy bullpen....oh yeah, and for the most losses in a season.

Wasn’t the bullpen actually supposed to be one of the “priorities” last offseason?  I don’t care what “mess” was left from the KW/Hahn era, what constraints he’s operating under because of JR, how much influence TLR has in decisions…Getz, at this point, has assembled the worst MLB roster of all time.  He continually makes horribly lopsided trades, puzzling roster management, and clearly can’t evaluate talent.

I’m so praying that now that the record is set, golf season is near, and every player/staff member completely stops even making a minute effort & get swept in both series to finish 90 games under.  Obviously the first 156 have been bad but I’m hoping the last 6 are like hilariously horrible.  Double digit blowouts every night, little league style errors, guys going to the plate with no intention to swing, shutouts, maybe a no-hitter.  Would be awesome.

While I agree with the sentiment, they are definitely getting two more wins.

Not a bet I would make, even if the law of averages is on their side.

I’ve gotta imagine the O/U on wins in the last 6 games would be exactly 1.5.  And the under would probably be more along the lines of -150 instead of -110 because 1 win is a little more likely than 2.  I’d set the line for the Tigers series alone at 0.5.  They are a far superior baseball team with something to play for.

how exactly can you say that with certainty?

The Angels aren’t good, so they’ll take at least one from them. And I’m willing to bet the Tigers’ playoff chances are set before the last game, so I could easily see the Sox taking one from them at that point.

4 teams within 2 games of each other, for 2 wild card spots with 6 to play? And Florida, Washington, and Chicago (AL) are up for a series with 3 of those teams?

Only way this doesn’t come down to next Sunday is if someone gets unexpectedly swept, like the Rays taking out the Tigers first. Each of these teams has to think 4-2 or 5-1 is necessary to make the WC.

Congrats to JR and Chris Getz for accomplishing something only one other team has been able to accomplish , an expansion team 62 years ago. They did this without even trying to be this horrible. Many others have tried, but failed. I hope they are very proud.

I don't know if they are proud, but they sure are in denial. That's why 2025, the 20th anniversary of the only World Series win in over 100 years, will be more of the same.
