If you like Vaughn so much, let him walk, and pay him like half of that in free agency, like a normal franchise. 1

I am not worried about marginal gains or losses. If it were up to me, I would stick Vargas there and let him get familiar with his new home, because it sure as hell shouldn't be 3B. This could also be on those positions where you find some unwanted $2-3m bat-ish first player and let him fill a position for a year like they did with DeJong at SS. You have nothing ready to go there anyway unless you surrender on Vargas, which Getz won't have enough sense to do. 1

Bob Sacamano
I also believe that the number comes in under that projection. For the most part, most of the Sox arb numbers have come in under their (very good overall) projections.

We spent an entire winter bringing in all of these work ethic cases via free agency and trade, and it got us the worst season in MLB history. What would we learn from that lesson? Let's do it again! Imagine how many losses we could have had without Andrew Vaughns leadership.

Sosa starts at 2B, Ramos should start at 3B over Vargas (who should be in LF), Montgomery eventually takes over SS, and Amaya is the utility guy.
