Hey, the Tigers and Royals advance. Maybe the Sox were just being throttled by two juggernauts all year.

Maybe the Orioles could have used a hitter.

Well, anyone who said they needed Crochet to advance was wrong.  Their hitting failed, not the pitching.  They definitely went to the wrong team looking for a hitter.  Eloy…  🤣

Cease . That's what that giant thread with all the Orioles fans was for. Sure they got Burnes but maybe getting Cease also gets them a bye like the Yankees got . Crochet wasn't going to help anyone the 2nd half. You're one of many who thought  both Robert and Crochet would be traded.

Orioles fans finding out how unpredictable young hitting prospects are and that  winning the division  helps. Hard to get youth to all gel at just the right moments.Yankees get Soto to pair with Judge . Orioles have no big time veteran hitters. Losing Santander's 44 HRs and Burnes now unless new ownership dives into free agency.

Yeah, the giant trade deadline thread from the 2023 season, not this season.  Cease wasn’t a trade option this year which is why they traded for Eflin and Eflin pitched almost as well as Cease in the second half once Baltimore acquired him.

Also, I know ERA isn’t the only metric but Burnes’ ERA was half a run less than Cease’s this season.  Cease also had the home park factor in his favor.  Meanwhile, Cease finished the regular season with 14 wins while Burnes finished with 15.

I realize people want to try to convince themselves that they were right about the Orioles’ situation all along but they lost because their offense failed, not because of their pitching.  And no one said they needed to trade for hitting over starting pitching at the trade deadline.

The argument is then that Cease over XYZ allows the Orioles to overtake the Yankees in the regular season and completely avoid the WC series.

But if their bats struggled so mightily down the stretch, another five days was simply going to delay the inevitable hot wild card team dicing right through them like the Rangers did last year after first taking out TBR.

Cease was an option all off and pre-season is what he meant. They could have honestly traded for Burnes and Cease.

My point was if u have Cease and Burnes you possibly win the division and avoid a short series .

They didn't lose because their hitting went south.Thats a short term in a short series problem. They lost because they didn't plan properly to build depth in their pitching staff. If they do that they could've won the division. A longer series allows you to overcome temporary hitting woes .There's no doubt the O's were the better team but anyone can win a short series even the Sox with superior pitching and barely enough hitting.

They lost 1-0 and 2-1. They literally lost that series because of their hitting, or lack of.

I agree that they don’t go far with the pitching they have but the reason they aren’t in the next round isn’t because of the pitching.
