Vaughn might be able to get up to 30 if he keeps trying to lift and pull rather than find a gap now and then for a 2B.

Hahahahaha sure. Maybe if we rewind to his days at Cal or get a special exception for the use of aluminum bats.

I posted one somewhere. We have a great manager so give him 2 veteran free agent starters at 15 mill a year; one good reliever to add to our young group of pen candidates for 10 mill a year; add one power hitting outfielder at 15-20 mill a year and add a second baseman with a clue for say, 8 mill a year. Bring up Monte and Echo and u give the manager a chance to pull a Quatraro. Go with Sosa at third I guess unless u wanna spend even more and find a good 3B. All my plan takes is good evaluation of the free agent market and Jerry not wanting to lose 100 again.

This is a complete unknown. But sure, let's take it as fact. Two veteran FA at $15M? So two more Andrew Benintendi's? So you want to be not only bad, but also expensive and bad? Haven't we been here before?

Jerry's desire to not spend supersedes his preference to not lose 100. In other words, he's just fine losing 100 if he gets to continue to be cheap.

Echo and Monte? Just, wow. Maybe getting the names of players correct would help you be taken more seriously.

Also, unless Venable has a Bobby Witt Jr up his sleeve, there is no magically repeating what KC did in 2024.

There is zero path to contention through free agency for the Chicago White Sox with the current owner and front office. Zero. But please, keep on spouting about your non-existent plan...

When you wish real hard, don’t care about the minors at all, and repeat “just win baby” with no actual plan…..that’s just a dub.  Accept it, everyone

Is this a shot at greg or Jerry?

He wrote an entire post mocking you.

That's not very nice. I feel mods shouldn't mock readers/Sox fans but that's just me. Admitting to mockery is not conducive to good message board business by mods IMO.

Q: Couldn't the Sox have signed Wacha and Lugo with better scouts?

Why are better scouts needed to sign players that have been in the league for a long time?

People resort to mocking because you never offer any good faith arguments or comments, you rarely if ever read detailed responses and respond as such, and you have been doing it for like 20 years.

frankly, I stopped trying to have a real baseball conversation with you years ago.  Right around the time you started referring to yourself in the third person

In response to you, I said they'd call up a Marvel superhero and you extolled the post.

You should, at bare minimum, read the discussions before trying to make declarative statements.

To say "never" is inaccurate and kind of insulting at least to me. I can accept your second part of the first paragraph saying "rarely" even if I disagree with it.  Trust me I read responses to my posts for sure. I do. Why else would I be on here. I've learned a lot of things and always try to give a like or fire symbol to good posts. Check out how many I've liked. Tons. I think my post mentioning Lugo/Wacha for instance contributed something here.

I meant scouts who could identify talent and stress to the decision makers/Getz that we should sign those two. Those two might have really helped the Sox starting rotation which already had Crochet.

You gave good rebuttals to my plan but at least it's a doable plan if Jerry would release the funds to sign the guys in the areas I suggest. You guys may disagree but KC did spend last offseason on some guys that worked out and helped them make the playoffs and win a playoff game vs the Yankees. I would think our new manager would welcome some 'plans' rather than take the field with a 110-loss club in 2025.

Getz literally said they won’t be spending in free agency a couple months ago…

Lot of things don't make sense. Can you imagine trying to sell season tickets for this team? How you gonna win without free agents to go with 2-3 average players on the current 40 man?

The question is why not sign free agents!!!   If the minors were stacked with top talent, i could possibly understand the no signing of free agents, but that is not the case.   This team can’t possibly be thinking about rolling out the same garbage they sent out this past season, can they?  i’m not sure i’ve ever seen a sports team so openly give their entire fan base the middle finger like this team does!!   It makes no sense!!

Actually it makes perfect sense.

Ownership doesn't feel with all their national and international revenue streams for MLB which are shared as well as local broadcasting/advertising deals they have made enough profit since the pandemic.

So...

You as a Sox fan will get nothing and like it.

Remember JR's operating philosophy, "fiscal responsibility is more important than winning..."
