One Obvious Move Completed - Analytics Overhauled

Obviously overdue, but funny that despite the rationale for hiring Getz is getting a head start - we’ve been moving much slower in removing and replacing underperforming parts of the org than an outside hire would have. More like set us 2 years behind than 1, as our owner put it (apologies for elder abuse)

There is just something really sad about rebranding your analytics department. Or needing to rebrand your analytics department.

The difference now is, you see, everyone was issued a scientific calculator

This quote is kind of disturbing, referring to how the 10 (really? that's it?) people that were/are working in analytics are now "allowed" to talk to people in other departments.

Quote

“And this is some of the basics of how an organization needs to run, but now it’s in place where they’re allowed to talk to each other.

Does this mean they weren't allowed to before? Were they just locked in a room in a basement somewhere? Is that why this organization is so far behind?

Yes.  No communication between departments. Everyone was to report directly to Hahn/Haber because those two dipshits wanted to control everything.  They destroyed every department in the organization.

That's the literally the opposite of how any successful business runs. Or at least should be run.

I fight against that sometimes in my own job where someone wants some change to some piece of software make their life easier but doesn't think about or talk to other people in other departments that also use it. It can create chaos.

Rosenthal's big story in the Athletic pointed that out, how departments were fractured with little communication between them. Basically separate fiefdoms.

By my count, this is the 4th time the analytics department has been overhauled since COVID.

Whoever the 2019 people were.
LaRussa brought in Dave Duncan's kid
Dave Duncan's kid was replaced when Grifol was brought in
Overhauled again this year.

Not when the owner makes you wait until staff member's contract's expire.

So they are calling themselves 'research & development' so they can hide from JR & TLR, right? No use of data under the new watch, boss, strictly old fashioned "scouting" and TWTW...

After the Severance process, send them all to R&D

There seems to be a (slow) house cleaning going on, of course Jerry just won’t let Getz fire people so he has to wait for their contracts to expire, but it’s still encouraging.
