People answer your questions, they have for the entire time you have been on this site.  You don’t like the answers so you rephrase the question and act like nobody answered it

all of the above is nonsense and none of it I agree with.  You have absolutely no idea of the average workload of a starter and all you do is cry about 5 inning starters.

who.  Fucking.  Cares.  If you win while making sure your pitcher remains healthy for his tenure on the team, it doesn’t matter.  You want to know why guys aren’t pitching complete games and 250 innings anymore?  Because it ruined their careers.  All this special health focus and plans and everything that you hate was born because players were sick of losing their fastball at age 28 because they are throwing too much

Goose is one hall of fame player with an opinion.  He is not the standard bearer of opinions from the hall of fame

Players throw (and are expected to throw) way harder now too. You can't throw 95-100 for 250+ innings a year unless you want pitchers to throw every other year only because they need TJS after every season.

At least you acknowledge his having an opinion. I'd love to have Goose be in a room with Reggie Jackson and Billy Williams and Steve Garvey and discuss future Hall of Fame standards. I think you'd be shocked at what we'd hear.

Gossage was a p**** who couldn't start 41 games and throw 360 innings a year. He's nobody to talk.

I'm pretty sure Gossage and Terry Forster were both starters then got switched to the bullpen. Not sure why except those two would make up a dynamic right/left relieving combo in a day and age you only needed one or two relievers max to wrap up a win. i think Gossage would have been a fine starter but I'd have to study his career.

Goose was always a relief pitcher until the Sox made him a starter in the 1976 season along with Forster because they did not have any other options.

I don’t understand the first point of me acknowledging his opinion.  Everyone has an opinion, doesn’t mean it’s right. Why would we be shocked?  Everything has changed the entire history of the game.  I’m sorry the game has moved past what you remember as a kid

Thanks Lip. Would those 2 have been fine starters had they remained? They had talent.

I think they were excellent relief pitchers, some of the best in the game... there was no reason to even consider them as starting pitchers. Gossage told me Forster had the best arm he's ever seen for a pitcher. Tom Bradley told me he thought Bart Johnson had the best arm.

Again the only reason the Sox did it in 1976 is because they had very few other options as that team was a disaster.

Bart Johnson also was both a starter and middle reliever, right? Sox apparently were good at flip flopping. Did u ever interview Johnson? Any audio available? Or Forster?

We hear outdated opinions all of the time.  Acknowledged.  Now let's move on to why he is wrong, just like we should.
