Katz had figured out Kopech. All it took was for Kopech to finally listen to him. This has been thoroughly discussed.

If they had him figured out why did Getz trade a high leverage closer for Vargas? That goes without mentioning the other two players he gave up. Certainly Kopech had more potential as a closer than Vargas does of showing anything resembling what we gave up to get him.  Vargas doesn't even have a position.....is he a 3B, OF, SS, or just a utility player?

I'd also like you to show me Kopechs last 10 appearances with the Sox, did he hold runners on base like he did in LA giving up zero SB's.

You sure about that?  I see a 3 ERA in this year’s playoffs.  Are you accidentally looking at Kopech’s career postseason stats instead?

3 horrible postseason innings with the Sox and 9 good postseason innings with the Dodgers.  What a surprise!

The Sox were robbed blind in that trade no matter which way anyone wants to try to portray it.  Getz is bad.

Watch him become a good #2 type starter with the Dodgers next season.

2024 stats of pitchers the Sox gave up on or traded which would make a formidable rotation on any team including the record breaking 2024 Chicago White Sox.

Chris Sale -  6.2 WAR, 18-3, 2.38 ERA, 1.01 WHIP

Carols Rodon -  1.9 WAR, 16-9, 3.96 ERA,1.223 WHIP

Renaldo Lopez -  5.1 WAR 8-5, 1.99 ERA, 1.10 WHIP

Erik Fedde -  5.6 WAR, 9-9, 3.30 ERA, 1.16 WHIP

Michael Kopech  White Sox  2-8, 4.74 ERA, 1.35 WHIP

Michael Kopeck LA Dodgers 4-0, 1.13 ERA, 0.792 WHIP

Not only have we needed a new G.M (KW-Hahn, Getz) for some time, we also need a new pitching coach!

Katz couldn't figure out Renaldo or Kopech and all it took was a coach that knows what they're doing.

Katz didn't do anything for Crochet, Crochet did it on his own by declaring himself a starter in Spring Training which the Sox were skeptical about. The Sox ruined him and his arm when they pitched him in the playoffs against the A's because they were all fooled by the radar gun he was hitting.  They didn't care about the damage he was doing to his arm, a pitcher straight out of college thrown into high leverage playoff games. He took time off to recover and convinced the Sox he was a starter not a reliever and we all saw what he did when given the role he was accustomed to.

Sox have a tendency to play players out of position (Vaughn-Sheets) and regress their careers instead of developing them the right way.

Dylan Covey just signed a major league deal with the Mets. There's another one who got away.

Looks like he rehabbed from injury this past year. He's put 1.4-1.5 baserunners on per inning his entire career.

Muy mal.

He should be the associate manager, they should hire someone more experienced to be the bench coach

Can someone explain to me what an associate manager is exactly? I know Venable was one for the Rangers, but that was the first time I’d ever heard of it.

We briefly controlled his rights too, but he pitched like crap in the minors and has now been transformed into a front line playoff starter by the Brewers...shocking, right?

Covey was never with the Brewers, and he never pitched in the post-season. Something happened in Philadelphia, 2023, where his many baserunners didn't score earned runs as much as previous seasons.

With expansion looming, 26 more guys like him will sift among the 32 clubs. Dylan Covey is blowout fodder who I think the White Sox have even moved beyond the need for.

Essentially it would be a Co-Manager.  They would typically get to perform some amount of the duties typically allotted to the actual manager.  Those things would probably be figured out between the two manager types and the GM.

No no no Tobias Myers.

2.2 fWAR in partial season…top 3 playoff starter for Brewers.

See 2022. 15.92 era in Charlotte.  1-15 in total that year across AAA stops.

I'd like to know too. And how does it differ from bench coach? IIRC wasn't Harold bench coach,? When he wasn't sleeping 😁

Oh dear God…

On the call with Venable, one of the press corps asked,

”In addition to your positive impression of Chris Getz, what else about this team attracted you to this position and gave you confidence to take the job as manager?”

His response brings me deep dread:

”I played against this team last year and saw them all bring energy and go out there and compete every day.”

He most certainly was not watching the same team that we were. What in the world?!?
