Do other teams try so hard to show their one trophy 20 years later?  Do you see the Diamondbacks or Marlins trophies in their introductory videos?  Serious question.

It turns out that's Venable's house, Bochy got replica trophies made for the coaches after they won last year.

It will be interesting to see if Venable is the real deal or if Getz will sabotage his managerial career with poor roster decisions.

Don’t think there’s any IF about it.

Just a note that the Sun-Times is opening up their site for election week. Any baseball articles you want to read should be free.

Sun Times is 100% free, I thought. You just need to register for a free account.

Venable's replacement as Rangers manager-in-waiting?

Sure sounds like it. Venable probably caught wind of this and decided to seriously pursue a manager job.

yikes.. This makes me think he wasn't allowed to hire his own guys to keep THAT many.

Only one that is kind of surprising to me is Thames. I figured Katz and Sizemore for sure would stick around.

“If Venable’s task is more normally confined to commanding respect in the dugout on the strength of his professional resume and comfort with communicating the schematics and realities of modern baseball to his players, then it’s a lot easier to say he looks the part with the reputation to match. Serving as the front-facing figurehead of a functional organization is a much more typical ask for this job.

The White Sox have many miles to go to convince the public that they are such an organization, but Venable’s hire is supposed to be just a signal, rather than the solution.”

Seems like a shot at Grifol/Haber, haha.

Venable knows this is his first and last managerial gig.  I bet he massively bumped up his retirement funding right after he signed the contract.

Yes. A chosen screengrab of a 15 minute press conference can tell you that.
