Was he? Not sure why he has sympathizers....Strategically, he was bottom tier...Good guy? Sure, Good manager? Hell no...Not too sure he's responsible for developing much

Apparently Grifol was in the top 10 highest paid MLB managers...Insane

What FA connections can we make to Venable? Rizzo? Leclerc?

Source?  That's shocking for JR...unless it was Francona or Bochy.

86-76 and a playoff berth and actually winning the wildcard against Houston in Houston is different than mired in mediocrity. They also were up 2-1 against Cleveland with all their wins coming on the road before losing in 5 games.

Are you saying A.J. Hinch wouldn't have made a difference had we not chosen TLR over Hinch?

Show the South Side a winner and they will come to the ballpark in 2006 they drew 2,957,414

Referring more to 2022-24...but we also have to consider the Astros just didn't lose during that stretch of eight consecutive until the ALCS or World Series.

General manager Chris Getz said he wanted a manager that would walk in step with him and the White Sox brain trust, including analytics, scouting and development personnel, as they make changes throughout the organization in its latest rebuilding effort.

By choosing Will Venable, 42, it indicates the former Cubs coach’s willingness to be on board with an organization that was shredded and humbled for all to see the last two seasons.

He had to be senile if he didn't realize Mark McGuire was cheating the game he professes to respect. He turned a blind eye on the steroid era and his player because he was all about winning instead of respecting the game. Tony two-face should have been a politician.

Of course he did but so did everyone else including St Joe Torre.  He was better than his peers and they were all turning a blind eye.  It’s a pox on all their houses, no doubt, including drunken LaRussa.

I saw where he was making a million, there was a erroneous report out that he was making four million which absolutely wasn't the case.

Seems like an entire bullpen right there, maybe not 25-26 relievers...only around 10.

Aaron Bummer Atl  dubious 5/1 trade of guys Atlanta needed off their payroll

Tim Hill Yankees/released

Jake Cousins NYY cash considerations

J.Chavez Atl released in spring training

M.Kopech LAD now one of best high leverage relievers in baseball

Tanner Banks Phillies

Brent Honeywell LAD released

Declan Cronin Marlins  waived, ends up with Houston, becomes solid contributor in Miami

Bailey Horn to Boston for cash...not to mention Rome Gonzalez would have led the White Sox in OPS

Brebbia released, to Braves, SSS

Basically, middle relievers are volatile and Kopech has a 7 era in this year's playoffs. Good talk.

Are you sure you aren’t citing that incorrect article that listed Grifol as receiving TLR’s salary?  That’s my guess.

In any case, imagine being Venable and looking at his current roster.  He could be the diamond in the rough as far as new managers go, but imagine having to win with whatever offseason of dumpster diving that Getz comes up with?

Poor guy.  Good luck, Will…

It's just kind of ironic when you look at 2 of the biggest budget teams in baseball and half their bullpens are comprised of ex-Sox pitchers.  And the White Sox had inarguably one of the worst pens in the entire 120 year history of baseball.  What exactly are the odds of THAT?

And that's not including the likes of Tommy Kahnle, Ian Hamilton and Daniel Hudson.

I'm with you, there. These guys bounce around. Maybe Getz was a little jumpy and let some of these guys go too quickly, and hung on way too long on others.

So no correlation whatsoever with the Dodgers and Yankees having roughly half their bullpens comprised of former Sox pitchers, while the actual real-life White Sox, suffering from SEVERE VOLATILITY APPARENTLY and not just poor personnel choices, went through the worst collective bullpen year in over a century of professional baseball...just random chance, bad luck, all landing unfairly on the head of payroll-cutter extraordinaire Chris Getz.

Okay, sure.

And when we had highly-paid bullpen guys like Kelly and Graveman, they couldn't even stand being in the same room with each other (well, at least Liam Hendriks and his wife)...failing to allow even cancer to get in the way of righteous indignation.

But I guess we just picked the wrong bullpen guys as well to invest JR's FA $$$ in...

"Half their bullpens." Obviously that's not true and you're being overly emotional because you're into gaining Internet credit. Of all the bad moves the Sox have made, trading middling relievers is the last on the list. There are a ton of reasons to hate the Sox moves, but Kopech and Bummer are so low down on the list that you're not even trying.

Who is leading SoxTalk in "Internet credit" these days exactly?

Balta or Look at Ray Run...?

Can this be converted to Bitcoin?

"The Dodgers excel at turning other teams' excesses into gold, with journeymen such as Ryan Brasier, Brent Honeywell and Anthony Banda becoming crucial contributors to the bullpen. Every bit as much attention is paid to the bottom 10 slots on the 40-man roster as it is to the top three.

"It's about getting the right players, the right people," Dodgers manager Dave Roberts said. "Talent is a lot, but it's not everything. You still have to be cohesive. I just think we do a great job of getting the right players in our clubhouse."

The Dodgers have as much star power as any team we've seen in recent years, but they could never be accused of taking a stars-and-scrubs approach, or constructing a top-heavy roster. Depth or stars? We'll have both, thank you.

"We have a culture here at the big league level," Roberts said. "But the scouting and player development is second to none."

I have been generally happy with the staffing decisions Getz has made. It sounds like this is a positive hire. I just hope enough of the rest of the org is in place to give Venable a fair shake to develop the guys here

.….now player acquisitions, on the other hand,…

You sure about that?  I see a 3 ERA in this year’s playoffs.  Are you accidentally looking at Kopech’s career postseason stats instead?

3 horrible postseason innings with the Sox and 9 good postseason innings with the Dodgers.  What a surprise!

The Sox were robbed blind in that trade no matter which way anyone wants to try to portray it.  Getz is bad.

2024 stats of pitchers the Sox gave up on or traded which would make a formidable rotation on any team including the record breaking 2024 Chicago White Sox.

Chris Sale -  6.2 WAR, 18-3, 2.38 ERA, 1.01 WHIP

Carols Rodon -  1.9 WAR, 16-9, 3.96 ERA,1.223 WHIP

Renaldo Lopez -  5.1 WAR 8-5, 1.99 ERA, 1.10 WHIP

Erik Fedde -  5.6 WAR, 9-9, 3.30 ERA, 1.16 WHIP

Michael Kopech  White Sox  2-8, 4.74 ERA, 1.35 WHIP

Michael Kopeck LA Dodgers 4-0, 1.13 ERA, 0.792 WHIP

Not only have we needed a new G.M (KW-Hahn, Getz) for some time, we also need a new pitching coach!

Katz couldn't figure out Renaldo or Kopech and all it took was a coach that knows what they're doing.

Katz didn't do anything for Crochet, Crochet did it on his own by declaring himself a starter in Spring Training which the Sox were skeptical about. The Sox ruined him and his arm when they pitched him in the playoffs against the A's because they were all fooled by the radar gun he was hitting.  They didn't care about the damage he was doing to his arm, a pitcher straight out of college thrown into high leverage playoff games. He took time off to recover and convinced the Sox he was a starter not a reliever and we all saw what he did when given the role he was accustomed to.

Sox have a tendency to play players out of position (Vaughn-Sheets) and regress their careers instead of developing them the right way.

Katz had figured out Kopech. All it took was for Kopech to finally listen to him. This has been thoroughly discussed.

If Katz figured out Kopech, why didn't he let your guy Getz know before he gave him away for nothing?

For all the things you somehow think the White Sox do right, 61-101 and 41-121 then stare you down.
