I don't know if I would completely say this. I have never seen a first round draft pick pitcher abused the way the White Sox did this one. Multiple elbow injuries, velocity drops that were ignored, guy forced to come back way too early from TJS leading to more injuries. If he comes out of that still surviving, he should 100% care about getting contract security.

Painter would've been a wild get. Yeah, painter could turn into a injury prone elite arm with top stuff and a huge ceiling... he could be someone like Garrett Crochet one day! Benintendi's contract shouldn't be an issue. The payroll is extremely low as it is. Give me Mayo & Kjerstad for Crochet. Do something Orioles. I think the Phillies considering Dombrowski's hunger to win and them completely falling on their face in the playoffs, this one would be the most realistic. Either way Chris Getz has set himself up really well this offseason to move him, what he can't do though is take an underwhelming package just because you feel you have to move him like he did with the Dylan Cease deal My top two trade candidates are Philly and Boston

David Clyde was screwed by the team to sell tickets.

Eminor3rd
It would absolutely bonkers not to trade Crochet this offseason. Extreme injury risk with only two more years of control and there’s never in history been a team further from contention than the White Sox right now. Literally none of the players on the current active roster will be on the next White Sox contender. Waiting for this year’s deadline should be a distant plan B to consider in the event of a horrible seller’s market.

Just being argumentative, but Thorpe and Berroa could quite possibly be on the next contending team.
Johno
What concerns me about trading Crochet, is that Getz will not get a fair amount of talent back. The Vargas trade was a Complete Disaster, Getz is just over his head. Keep Crochet!
TheFutureIsNear
I wonder if an inter-division trade could happen? Definitely shouldn’t be a deterrent with the Sox and our realistic window of getting back into contention. Detroit and Minny have a few hitting prospect that will work as trade partners. Basically, I think a smaller market team that knows they will never sign a top FA pitcher getting aggressive for Crochet would be ideal for the Sox. Dbacks would be another example

I hate that this is still a thing being discussed. I just cannot for the life of me fathom why prioritizing dumping Beni is a priority over maximizing return. It doesn’t make a single lick of sense. It’s the White Sox, so you can’t completely dismiss it, but I’ll believe it when I see it. 4

Timmy U
I get he’s of limited value to the Sox, but I like watching Crochet pitch. If they can get a top guy (Zyhir Hope?), absolutely, do the deal. Miguel Vargas-type? I would keep him.
