caulfield12
The only way keeping Crochet sort of makes any sense is if you’re drafting the equivalent of Stephen Strasburg/Skenes @ 1-1 this year (not next) and bringing him to the majors directly from college to compete this season…but that would require $400-500 million at a minimum of FA spending to shore up the starting lineup. Not even sure the equivalent of Alex Bregman ($182 million), Alonso ($125 million) , Adames/Kim and Teoscar Hernandez ($60 million) spread across the field would give you a competitive lineup without Luis Robert having a monster bounceback year as well. You’d need RoY performances from Montgomery and Quero too. And we still haven’t spent money on a more proven closer…but Tanner Scott would be another $56 million according to MLBTR. Fedde finished with a 5.6 WAR last season. Get out of here with this garbage.
Harold's Leg Lift
16 hours ago, Timmy U said: Good question. I always liked Vientos’ swing more than Baty’s. Obviously, Vientos isn’t exactly Matt Chapman at 3rd either. I wouldn’t have been on the “get him at all costs” train, but the sample sizes are vastly different. Baty has been given a lot of at bats and has shown very little. Vientos got sporadic time until this year. He played in about half the number of games by the end of last year that Baty already has under his belt. I live in NYC and watch a fair number of Mets’ games. I am convicted that Baty is not going to be an impact player. I did not feel that way about Vientos last year. But I will admit I did not see this break out coming. I'm still a believer in Baty. I think he's gonna hit and is an excellent breakout candidate. He's a left handed bat with power that they desperately need. No he's not going to be a longterm third baseman but I think he'll be fine there until Montgomery has to slide over. I think Baty is the major league ready type of player they should be targeting. No (unless they’re like the third piece at most).
SCCWS
Speaking of the Red Sox, Boston already has a starting LF in Duran and CF in Rafaela. So Abreu is the 3rd outfielder especially since he only had had success against RH. So with the soon arrival of Anthony, Mayer, Campbell and Montgomery Abreu would be a perfect target for Red Sox to offer in a Crochet trade. White Sox need to get a better main piece than Abreu

If you dont think my post is accurate then show me the pitchers who have his K rate that are worth tons and tons in trade. Maybe Getz messed up a little due to being new but he wasnt going to get a haul Edited November 16 by Fielder Jones

None of the above changes my feelings, the Sox drafted both of them based on immense natural talent and brought them up immediately with little to no seasoning. and honestly it’s hard to credit crochet even more as a development win since he took it upon himself this season to make himself a starter It's really not like Crochet was chloroforming the starting pitcher every 5 days and tying him up in the janitor's closet. It's a silly argument to assume anybody who came through the minor league system wasn't "developed" because they were so freakin' awesome to start with. Sillier, still, to discard all of the adjustment and work the staff did with Crochet during a year where practically nobody thought he would reach October alive.

joejoesox
what's Abreu's ceiling? a sub 800 OPS guy as a headliner seems light as f***, I guarantee someone else beats that, a 25yo light hitting RF who strikes out 140 times a year, the f*** Edited November 16 by joejoesox

They also protected him so much by having him throw FBs at lower velocity unless he really needed to ramp up into the high 90s in key situations. Also this season was his 1st complete season as a starting pitcher since his senior year of High School.

You need to suffer a little when getting high quality. The process can't be relatively painless for your organization. 1

Lmao yes I feel owned when you reply and tell me how ten months ago you definitely thought against the grain against everyone else and were so right. No the truth is, when you reply I read it like Charlie Brown hears his teacher, and it becomes more or less just an annoying sound of someone desperately trying to tell someone else they are “right” and that they are “owned”(😂). And I just stopped replying period because you are insufferable, not because I feel that you are right or I feel owned, but because the conversation has zero point for me or anyone else viewing. And I know this is true especially now because the point you are getting mad at has nothing to do with anything you ever said that I replied to, but rather because you found something and tried to make a mountain out of a molehill and cast me as the ignoramus that you are so sure that I am. I don’t think about you much when I’m on this site. It’s just for the best 👍😉 1
