Potential Crochet Trade discussion Thread

Phillies out- Bohm, Crawford and Mick Abel

Phillies in- Crochet

Mariners out- Lazaro Montes and Tai Peete

Mariners in: Bohm

White Sox out- Crochet

White Sox in- Crawford, Abel, Montes and Peete

I could definitely live with something like that. Would prefer a 2nd higher end prospect back, but don’t mind a quantity package either if it’s 3 good (not great) prospects behind Crawford. I don’t think Bohm will be as hard to move in a 3 team deal as people are making it out either

The issue is the Mariners would NEVER trade Montes for Bohm. Too much value there.

If Jerry wants MLB ready position players to help save face in the short term, Getz is going to get worked (again).

If a team is "all-in" enough to acquire the best available trade piece, they generally don't have MLB ready anything to spare, especially in this era.

Jerry if you are desperate to improve in 2025 you have to spend some money. Trade Crochet (and Robert) for the best package of prospects that are at least one year away.  Dealing him for a couple early arb underachievers that contenders are ready to move on from to save a few bucks while you chase 63 wins is a huge waste of value.

I’m not going to pretend to know a ton about Montes other than he has a ton of power. Mariners top prospect rankings are all over the place and some don’t have him in their top 3. More just an example

I also think people are undervaluing Bohm a little bit. I get that he’s not a fit for the Sox, but I think there’s at least handful of teams that would be happy to have him. Especially after guys like Bregman and Adames go for a ton in free agency and there isn’t much left to fill an IF spot.

I know I'm in the minority here, but I hope the Sox don't trade Crochet. I have no confidence that Getz knows what he is doing, and the chance that the Sox get absolutely fleeced on this trade is high. It also seems apparent that the Sox are in such a bad shape that they will likely be bottom feeders for the next decade or so no matter what they do. At least having Crochet pitch every 5 days is a reason to watch a game or head out to the ballpark.

Trading Crochet for future pieces is truly the only way the Sox (and how they operate) is the only way they can get out of this. He pitched every 5 days this year and it was the most miserable season possible.

If you truly believe that the White Sox will suck for the next 10 years, what's the point, then? You'll see one 3-0 loss a week, then five to six 10-2 losses for the rest. For ten years. And that's if Chris Getz doesn't run down to the clubhouse with a hammer and break Crochet's arm, because he's so stupid, he thinks that's good for a pitcher.

Letting Crochet walk away in two years would be corporate negligence.

I don’t mind Abreu as a second piece in a trade but I also understand the thought process of acquiring prospects only and not any players that have already accrued some service time.

I never thought Abreu made much sense for the White Sox either

Sox are years away from fielding a competitive roster, and Abreu's service clock has already started ticking.

Prospects the Sox can stash for another season or so would be much more appealing and better medium to longer term

The surplus value of Crochet must be off the charts when a guy like Kikuchi is getting 3/$63M

Crochet is a total steal at $2,9 million this year and even arbitration next year should not be anythign that crazy, maybe $10 million or so?

Aidan Miller, Marcelo Mayer, Roman Anthony, Kyle Teel, Coby Mayo, Samuel Basallo, if one of those names ain’t in the return for Crochett then 👎

Getz needs to hit a grand slam with this trade

Kristian Campbell would be a terrific headliner in a deal as well

He raked across three different levels in 2024
