Their general consensus is Crochet should be attainable for something like Abreu and “flotsam”. All I know is if a trade eventually goes down with the Rex Sox, one of the fanbases will be incredibly disappointed because we are so part on what Garrett is worth. And I'm pretty sure i know which of the two fanbases will be incredibly disappointed. Spoiler alert: It's not the one with "Red" in the team name. In all seriousness, if we got Braden Montgomery and Kristian Campbell as people have suggested, this would be pretty good. Montgomery would have gone far higher in the draft if it wasn't for his injury, and has a great arm for RF, is a switch hitter that has alot of power from the left side in particular so there's some real savagery there too. Campbell has played 2B, SS and I think CF so he could potentially fill multiple different spots depending on how those positions shake out after other moves so there's good flexibility there. I would support that deal if those are the two main pieces. I'd love Anthony from BOS but they aren't gonna deal him obviously.

And getting those two for Crochet would be a great deal for the White Sox imo. Agreed. I wouldn't really care who is the 3rd prospect, or if one even comes with. Mets fans are the ones living in a delusional fantasyland thinking they can get him for a bunch of filler prospects. Could just be Sons of Sam Horn then. peanut33tillman
I don’t think they are getting Montgomery + one of the big 4. If they got Campbell and Montgomery alone I’d be excited not mentioning a flyer as the 3rd piece.
JUSTgottaBELIEVE
I think they’re going to try offering Mayo as the headliner and I really hope the Sox don’t take the bait.

Timmy U
I'll believe Baltimore will give up anything significant for anybody when I see it. I hope it's Boston. 2

To me he looks like a corner outfielder that will quickly become a DH. I think Boston has a bunch of good players though. I'd really like to see Rafaela on the (appropriately-colored) Sox but I don't think he's the main piece you want back. His bat wasn't so good last year but his defensive versatility would be a good fit after Robert is traded and our Montgomery inevitably moves off SS. Mayer seems like a pipedream but maybe his injury history drops his status a bit; but would hate to wind up with another one of Boston's injury-riddled infield prospects. Mayer, Rafaela, Bleis for Crochet seems like a good starting point for a trade negotiation. Boston probably says no, so maybe you add in Robert and Boston adds Willkommen Gonzalez. TheFutureIsNear
White Sox Out- Crochet and Benintendi + $ White Sox In- Crawford, Arias, Abel, Pereria, Taijuan Walker, DJ LeMahieu + $ Phillies out- Bohm, Walker, Crawford, Abel Phillies in- Crochet and Benintendi + $ Yankees in- Bohm Yankees out- Roderick Arias, Everson Pereira, LeMahieu + $ Money would be have to worked out. Yankees send the Sox $ to cover some/a decent amount of LeMahieu’s 2 years while the Sox send $ to cover some/a decent amount of Beni’s 3rd year. But I think that makes a good bit of sense for all 3 teams.

wrathofhahn
Crochet is the current Sox that makes the most sense to move now. He has a history of arm issues and had a good year. Makes sense to move him now versus holding onto him and taking a chance he may get another arm injury. I hope we take the best offer.
JUSTgottaBELIEVE
Montas signs for 2/$34M, Boyd signs for 2/$29M. Starting pitchers, even with checkered recent histories, getting paid. Should continue to increase the value of someone like Crochet, although I think the Cubs are now out of the Crochet sweepstakes if they were ever in it as a darkhorse. The problem with this thinking is - the value of starting pitching going up also means that the value of prospects with 6 years of control goes up. How a team balances that isn't straightforward. A team wanting to compete right now, with a ticking clock, might see Crochet's value going up, while a team wanting to maintain competitiveness for a long window might see their prospects as even more valuable compared to a guy like Crochet. joejoesox
you gotta get at least 3 high upside guys for crochet, doesn't need to be their top guys, but you want a deal that isn't hedging everything on 1 or 2 guys. I would need 3 personally, add Tolle in there, I want a two way guy lol

Why not both? Compete right now and maintain competitiveness for a long window like the Phillies or Dodgers?
scotty22hotty
cease was projected to be a top 10 pitcher and ended up #5 on fangraphs. Sox got a 90mph SP with bone spurs for him after the brewers got Ortiz. every GM is going to lowball Getz because they know he cant properly negotiate. not getting my hopes up 🤷♂️

For the Dodgers, I’d say that the value of pitching going up is…basically nothing because right now they seem to have infinite money. Do they care if pitchers get more expensive with what they just paid Snell? For the Phillies, I think they’re looking at being in a window but with a chance that it will close in the near future. They’re among the older average teams in baseball, and their key contributors are all in their early to mid 30s. At some point either injuries or guys hitting the age wall will happen. May not be this year but do you count on them all producing at 34? 35? They’re exactly who I was thinking of when I mentioned a team that might feel pressure based on deals like Montas and Snell.
