Let's take a vote...I think you must be the smartest fan ever.

C’mon poppy, the Sox knew they made a mistake drafting Madrigal and sold him high for Kimbrel (or at least they thought so at the time).  The Cubs just non-tendered him.  That trade ended up being a bust for both teams.  Kimbrel sucked and both Madrigal and Codi Heuer are no longer Cubs.

What do you still see in Madrigal that makes you think he is a good player?  It’s pretty obvious that he’s not the next coming of Nellie Fox.  He’s no better than awful Nicky Lopez.  Did you love what you saw from Little Nicky last season?  The Sox non-tendered his ass too.

I think there were some clubhouse issues with him too.

Yep, so it wasn’t bad enough that he was a terrible player…  the dude had an ego and thought he was the s%*#.  What a tool…

Madrigal would have to have a 50 year career to finish with 3,000 hits.

Unless the Sox can pry Roman Anthony away from the Red Sox, I really want Aidan Miller from the Phillies and think that could especially be on the table if they land Bregman and can trade Bohm. If not Miller then give me Mayo or Basallo - I want a big bat with some big time pop in return

Seeing the Os signing the Red Sox OF makes me wonder if one of the young OFs free up from them too.

As in Kjerstad?  I kinda hope that ship has sailed.  Kjerstad has 5 years of control left and also turns 26 before next season begins.  He has almost aged out to be a truly preferable trade target for the White Sox with where their timeline is at to be competitive again.

I haven't brought up Madrigal in months.  However, I like scrappy little players who the pros pick to go at the top of the draft.  The injury bug takes down guys like Moncada who is every bit the disappointment of Madrigal.  Big strong men who hit .200 with 30 bombs just aren't my thing.  Some posters get tiresome with their constant negative BS.  As I have said many times. entertainment is what I want to see.  Speed, defense, and timely hitting are more entertaining than a HR every 20 at-bats.  Carry-on.

Agreed.  They could still deal Montgomery though.  Anthony is the guy they are keeping fo sho.

Fully agree.  Montgomery is obviously a nice prospect and you never want to give those up if you can avoid it, but he doesn’t really impact their near-term roadmap.  I fully expect him included in any major trade, whether Crochet or for someone else.

Anthony & Campbell seem like their two untouchables IMO and I think they’d be hard pressed to give up Teal just due long-term need.  That makes Mayer the most expendable of their big 4 and with Merkin saying that we are targeting a SS in a Crochet trade it just makes too much for him to be the centerpiece.

Injury bug and Madrigal also go hand in hand. Carry on.

Agreed, but one of my favorite players of all time is Mike Cameron right before he was traded for Konerko.  Speed, defense, and would hit some bombs.  Let’s get more players like that.

Mayer is very talented but his BABIP fueled performance last year and injuries are scary.

Still....I bet we wouldn't say no to Mayer and Montgomery, unless PHI offered Miller and Crawford.

I couldn’t pass on that second offer.  But I’d also jump at Painter and Crawford.  Not sure the Phillies would offer either duo for Crochet.
