He's purposely avoiding the most vitriolic fanbases and media markets...Boston seems unlikelier now too, plus there's the disparity in flight times from Japan compared to the West Coast teams. MLB Pipeline is currently in the process of polling front offices for all 30 teams in the annual MLB Pipeline Executive Survey. As part of the questionnaire, executives were asked who they thought was the favorite to sign Sasaki. It should be noted that many of the responses came before the Wolfe media session, but two teams received nearly all of the votes: Dodgers: 11 Padres: 7 The Giants and Rangers each received one vote. Cubs Yankees Mets Mariners have to be included as well. mlb.com Edited yesterday at 04:12 AM by caulfield12

"Million Dollar Arm" movie was nearly a decade ago, though. You'd think the White Sox might have the vision there to think outside the box...but even signing a $100 million contract seems beyond the pale(sox) at the moment. Sambuca Posted yesterday at 04:20 AM Share Posted yesterday at 04:20 AM Is “MLB Scoops” the only thing linking the White Sox to Roki, outside of “we are making him a video”?

Yay, we're (theoretically) ahead of the Phillies and maybe the A's! That might be worth a handful in season ticket sales by Boyer's staff. Every single Sox fan should be saying “I’ll believe it when I see it.” That’s the exact skepticism that’s warranted with this dumb ass organization. But assuming everything they do will fail is not even skepticism, that’s just nihilism, which, why even bother at that point. Basically there's a subset here that refuses to see anything good. Even if they see it like a good amount of pitching prospects and a top 5 system they refuse to talk about it. It's like I've been hurt and I'll never love again. We usually find those people just as annoying as eternally optimistic people, maybe moreso except they formed themselves as the Soxtalk cool kids . Now it's cool to be a Sox Goth because it's the majority. We can accuse anyone optimistic of being Getz lovers . OMG the stigma is devastating. Only there are no eternally optimistic people here. There's just the Sox Goths and those who choose to see some good. It might not get us to the playoffs soon but I've rooted for the Sox all my life as have many of you when they weren't making the playoffs so it's not much different to me. You either make the playoffs or you don't. Here we're the tree in the forest that no one hears fall. 4

Chicago White Sox
But seriously, I’ve said it before, but there is a legit sales pitch to be made by the White Sox: Top Three Metro Market => Significant endorsement opportunities No Established Stars => Can immediately be the face of the franchise Limited Japanese History => Doesn’t have to live in the shadows of others Stress Free Environment => Can develop in the majors at his own pace Quality Pitching Development => Bannister a proven difference maker Top 10 Japanese Population => Access to some cultural elements of home Direct Flight to Japan => A small bonus that certain cities can’t offer The one thing Getz has been able to do as GM is sell his vision. Obviously the road ahead is going to be rough, but not everyone is afraid of a challenge. As someone who works for a Japanese company, I can say many of these guys value things differently than Americans. If this dude wants to create his own legacy, winning a World Series on the south side of Chicago would one of the best ways to do that. And I truly believe that can be a massive selling point.

But wanting to be on a winning team from the beginning with superior facilities and crowd support...and having no reason to believe they're suddenly going to start supplementing the roster in FA? Why not a team that has never won a World Series? I would feel the White Sox main motivation would be to acquire him in order to flip him later for a boatload of prospects.
