I don't buy it. You can't completely rule it out because White Sox, but I refuse to believe this is actually a thing. Even more insane is trading Robert for a busted prospect with the same amount of control. If that's Robert's value, not holding him and hoping for a big first half is ABSOLUTE INSANITY.

I agree, but nothing this franchise does makes sense and we should all be nervous (especially with so many rumors about how much money they’ve lost the last two years). Damn, didn;t realize Lux was down to jsut 2 years. Even more support for it being a terrible idea. Something like De Paula, Lux and someone in the 8-15 range for Robert would work, I guess. I'd still prefer someone other than Lux. But even then, I'd rather just hold and hope we get good Robert in 25. IF we do, he's worth multiples of his current value. When he's not even that expensive, we don't really have anyone else to take his spot, and still have plenty of control, rushing into a meh deal after his brutal 24 isn't necessary. I’m 100% behind holding onto Robert. Go sign someone like Joc on a very short term to provide some protection and hope he rebounds.

It it were the Dodgers, I could see that return being an A-ball position player/rotation arm PLUS Gavin Lux. The only reason for these nonsense "trades" (crochet + benintendi, robert for garbage) is that Reinsdorf is selling the team by the end of the year, and wants payroll cleared, which still only makes sense in the realm of a couple commenters saying that could be what JR selling looks like. Bob Sacamano
I can easily see them trying to deal AB with Crochet but don’t see Robert for Lux. Doesn’t make sense to lessen your return for an ace but this is the White Sox here. They don’t deserve benefit of the doubt. Absolutely a possibility until he’s traded alone. Jones fell off a bit (strikeouts, yikes!), but Dominguez is still #14 in the top 100. I doubt the actual return for Crochet ends up looking better than Dominguez and Jones. Welp, the other worry is Moncada. An injury in the first half to Robert and not only do they pay his whole season salary but his option is declined next offseason and they get nothing for him. 1

Robert’s trade value is minimal right now. They clearly missed the boat on selling high on him last offseason. Everyone fell in love with his outlier 2023 season.

But I don’t recall if any of the actual trade offers were leaked. Edited November 14 by WhiteSox2023

The dude literally had zero protection and was probably trying to do too much as a result. Add in the fact the team was historically bad and what that does to your psyche and it shouldn’t be surprising he had a mediocre year. The talent is still there IMO. That’s just a flier with boom or bust potential, not a legitimate prospect. Batista is now rated right ahead of #22 Jake Eder in the Sox top 30.
