Let the kid prove he belongs.

That would be a bit surprising, not that I think they currently have a better option. But they should still find one. 50 minutes ago, CWSpalehoseCWS said: So do I, but rewarding mediocrity for the sake of a lack of options is a really bad precedent to set for a supposed "revamp" of the system. Let the kid prove he belongs. Agreed. If this happens, it will be for all the wrong reasons — a strong showing in the AFL and upcoming Spring Training. He should have to start in AAA and prove that 2024 was just a down year. But like you said, a lack of options and probably some cheapness on Jerry’s part means this could actually happen. Balta1701
Calling guys up based on artificial timetables and not because they earned it was a defining move of Rick Hahn’s GM career.

Chicago White Sox
So Harold’s game plan for the Sox this offseason is: Rush Colson Montgomery to the majors Trade Robert + prospects for Lux Trade Crochet + Benintendi for crap Definitely seems like a foolproof plan! 1

Highland
Rushing a player to the big leagues is something that the Sox have done for years. Hasn't worked. Glad the player has ambition, but he has to prove he is ready.
Jerry McNertney
Based upon his awful 2024 season at Charlotte, Montgomery should be the opening day shortstop for Birmingham.

ScootsMcGoots
I mean, of course he would say that he wants to be the starting ss for the mlb team. He should say that. Doesn't mean he should get it though. I know spring numbers don't mean much but if he has a great spring I wouldn't mind him breaking with the team. Idk that I would dub him the regular starter though. I'd rather they sign an experienced veteran that he can split time with and learn from throughout the season.

Which...why wouldn't he want that?
