Should Sox pursue Carson Kelly

Nope. I never said "Zavala was a solid success". The convo was hidden because multiple admins were so owned they wept.

I will type this slowly. Zavala's defensive advancement was an example of the White Sox' new ability to develop the defensive side of a catcher's game.

They released Zavala in September to get Lee reps.

By pointing out this series of transactions you make a convincing case that the White Sox don't care about the defensive side of a catcher's game.

Not once they feel they have the ability to develop it in their prospects, no. And in the lost season of 2023, why give a month's worth of reps to Zavala instead of seeing what they just acquired in Lee?

Zavala's a backup catcher. Multiple teams have moved on from him in order to facilitate another roster move. It's really not that hard to understand.

So hurt by it, they keep dragging their hurt feelings into these threads  a year +  later.  Oh right...

Because they could have easily designated Grandal for assignment or sent Perez (who started 6 games in the last 2 months) to Charlotte instead. But, they didn't care about Zavala's better defense.

This is what they should have done and what everyone said at the time.

Framing won't matter the next season the White Sox lose less than 100 games.

So should they not hire guys to turn mediocre to terrible areas into potential strengths?

You're the one who has to post a picture of Baghdad Bob when a comment string gets above your head.

You keep trying to argue straw men. I hope you win those arguments with whomever is making them.

I sure hope Quero isn't on the OF roster. Terrible short sighted roster management. I doubt Chuckie Robinson survives the offseason on the 40 man, so we'll need another catcher but I'd just give Lee the vast majority of the work until Quero earns his promotion, sometime in May. I'd probably just bring in a couple milb invite and see who wins the job. Or could just let Hackenburg get a taste.

For the extra year? Before he got hurt Quero was tearing up AAA. I can see manipulating his service time but Quero is already a better receiver and game caller than Lee. And he is miles better as a hitter.

From a part time catcher, one hot streak is fine by me.

What I’ve noticed from his numbers defensively is:

1. He has real promise controlling the running game, with elite pop time and above average accuracy so far.

2. There are two weaknesses in his game defensively. He’s poor at blocking the plate and awful at framing.

3. However, we have seen people on other teams get better at some of those with work, particularly framing. This hasn’t happened with White Sox young catchers though because they didn’t think of such things in the 1990s and that means it’s inappropriate to coach players on it. Is the new regime more open to working with him on improving pitch framing?

McKinven is supposed to  be a framing whisperer according to some sources with both Narvaez and William Contreras improving while with the  Brewers. Eric Kratz  of Foul Territory was one source who said that.

With all these guys let’s see how it goes. I like it on paper but I’ve heard it all before. There’s a 10 year old article out there about how the White Sox are totally making it a point to teach framing and like a 9 year old article about how the 2015 team keeps losing games because they got rid of Flowers and now Avila and Navarro are one of the worst framing pairs in baseball.

I do want to give Quero a shot though.

Great. Call him up in May.

Yes, please, post more of my reasonable takes to pretend you're making a sick burn. LOL.

Saying you would pencil Corey Julks into the 2025 lineup last July after he had around just over 100 at bats with the Sox and finished the season with a line of .214/.275/.306/.581 was reasonable?

No, that was not a reasonable take at all.

I sure hope you find somebody to pay attention to you like you pay attention to my innocuous opinions from last year. LOL.

I'm not sure how calling Sheets a lefty bench bat or Julks a short half of a platoon is unreasonable, but you do you.

Julks and Sheets a week away from being an average MLB hitter?

Well, I guess if they were catchers.

No, MLB average OPS was what I stated (.709), at the time. Corey Julks walked in a single PA on 7/20, and brought his OPS up to .699. Gavin Sheets just registered a 1-4 on July 14th that had him sitting with a .693 OPS.

What I said was factually correct, and not really all that "out there".

I didn’t highlight the Sheets portion of your post.  I highlighted the Julks portion.  And yes, penciling in Julks into the 2025 lineup last July was just as unreasonable then as it is now.

No, they were a week away from being DFA by a real organization.  The White Sox finally caught up and cut one of the two.  🤣
