Non-Tender Day

Colas didn't get any shot with the MLB team in a year they lost 120+ games. I just don't think he's long for this roster.

I would argue that there are a lot of guys I would dump first, including Shewmake, Amaya, Scholtens, Julks, and Chuckie Robinson. If they need 9 spots, including the 2 they already have open, Colas is definitely vulnerable.

Oh yeah, I agree. I listed about 8 or 9 guys earlier this week, including all of those guys, and did not mention Oscar.

I just don’t understand what they have against him. There must be something going on behind the scenes with him because I feel he is more talented and has more upside than either Fletcher or DeLoach.

He did compare himself to a slave when in the minor leagues 2 years ago and I believe threatened retirement Yermin style. And that was all publicly so yeah I'm sure it's no better behind the scenes.

So they're "teaching him a lesson" somehow, still?  It's the only thing that makes sense...just barely.  At least the way the Sox operate with grudges, such as the Giolito union rep theory.

Or simply managers wanting to play "trusted" vets over younger players.

I seem to remember reading something about Colas playing hurt last year. His back I think.

It would be crazy for a team in what's essentially the first year of a rebuild to give up on a top 5 pick a few years into his career, especially with a new staff and hitting instructor coming in.

He’ll more than likely put up another .725 to .750 OPS with poor defense and either be traded at the deadline or non-tendered after the season.

Getz acquired Fletcher and DeLoach and needs to prove he can acquire talent. That's it at this point.

Sox gonna go trade for Massey now? :)

I wouldn’t mind acquiring him.  Brother Rice grad coming home.  Better than Nicky Lopez.  Still not sure why the Royals made this trade.  India is mediocre.

Madrigal is a non-tender. Maybe Detroit will pick him up to reunite him with Benetti

Awesome 1st round pick, right as the Sox DFA their 2nd round pick, and we discussed Vaughn being a potential DFA.  Whatever position player the Sox think they should draft, they should automatically take their second choice.  Maybe that would work.

That is a TERRIBLE trade. Good on the Reds for turning a bust into a good #3 starter

Singer gonna get destroyed in that new ballpark

That’s just the hand that’s dealt to all Reds pitchers due to the park factors.  I assume the Reds acquired him because he throws so many sinkers, but he still strikes out a decent amount of guys.  I think it’s an absolute steal for the Reds.
