Benintendi has been a terrible defender with us and has looked lazy in the field at times, so really not a David Eckstein clone.  Regardless, a Boston report is the source of this and Harold has also implied that we may try to pair Andrew with Crochet to dump the contract.

Do you want me to find the link?  It was from a legitimate baseball writer and not some random blogger.  And as much I like to give Harold s%*#, he’s proven to have some actual inside info in the past.  That being said, I agree that I find it unlikely that even Jerry would be that desperate to dump Benintendi’s contract.

Is it? It seems about as valid as "Boston report." Especially when said "Boston report" is about Benintendi of all people. Surely a Boston content creator wouldnt have any incentive to post some unsubstantiated bs about Benintendi. It might have gotten him 8 more clicks.

I do think he’s too excited about Lux being one of the main pieces coming back for Crochet or Robert, though.

What good will he do in two years when JR won’t extend him?  In that sense, keeping Vaughn is almost as meaningless but theoretically Lux would go back to SS (where he doesn’t belong) with the Sox.

So we non tendered Sheets? I'd think somebody will sign him for about 4-5 million. If I were him I'd want a one-year deal and see if a change of scenery (coaches) helps him reach his alleged potential. I'd take a flyer on him. He may or may not be done yet but considering his status as a second-round pick he may deserve one more shot with his second team. ... Not to sound like Mr. Royals but I betcha KC will be interested if they deem he has some talent. They still need some outfielders who can hit.

Anyway, if the Sox actually accept less value to work Beni into a trade, I'll leave the board. At that point, there's no reason to support the team anymore anyway. Life's to short to waste time following anything that brings no value or happiness to my life.
