Nothing you say about throwing money at problems will help. This situation is what it is, you keep suggesting the same stupid things that will never happen and the rest of us are merely hoping that someone will draft or sign someone internationally that can possibly be competent for the entire short tenure with the major league club before they are deemed too expensive every time you do that stupid “just win, baby” it’s like you are standing in front of a car with no engine telling it “just drive, baby”. IT DOESNT WORK BECAUSE IT DOESNT HAVE THE RIGHT PARTS AND THE OWNER DOESNT WANT TO BUY THEM OR MAINTAIN THEM Then if all this is true, the league should break up the White Sox and contract them. I mean there are examples of teams that also appear to have malfeasance with absolutely no desire to win (Bulls seem to be one of them) but if it's this blatantly obvious the Sox just don't want to win, why is the franchise in existence? At least all the teams in the Sox division besides the Sox have tried a tad to win and they all face the same limitations as the Sox. Your post says there's no hope til Jerry dies basically. This should not be allowed by MLB.

The White Sox are much worse off than the Twins in 2001-02 when the commissioner threatened to contract them...but only due to the Chicago market and history will Reinsdorf be spared, seemingly. And greed. The owners want to expand, not move teams around the chessboard.

You guys say we cannot and will not even try to win with Jerry in charge. This is against everything about pro sports. You can't knowingly rip off the fans. Contract this team, Mr. Commissioner or force Jerry to sell. This is egregious.

Very disappointing The fan experience at Bulls games is among the best in all of sports. Bulls games are fun as hell, and their attendance numbers have followed accordingly. If you think the experience is "disappointing," you're in an extreme minority.

If he tried it the other owners would fire his ass in a New York minute. To say nothing of JR having him in court slapped with an injunction. Manfred could give a s%*# how bad the Sox are, they are making money and that's all he and the league care about.

I wish you or somebody could write an essay telling me exactly how the Sox make money. Awful TV ratings, tiny crowds, I'd assume very few jackets and hats and uniform tops sold. How in the bleep can this team make money? Does parking dollars matter that much to the bottom line? Shared TV money?

Shared TV money? They make money because the national AND international revenue streams are more than ever before and are shared equally. National broadcast money is shared equally and it is a lot... the local advertising deals to go along with the local radio/TV deals still produce money despite how bad the team is, that money has already been paid to the Sox, it is already drawing interest in the bank. Now add in concessions, parking and merchandise... it all ads up. Then remember that during the "rebuild" between 2017-2019 the Sox either had the lowest team payroll in baseball or near the bottom. That "savings" added up and reduced losses because of COVID. Just a few years ago MLB sold one of their properties to BAT Technology. Each team got a 50 million dollar check. JR has a sweetheart lease agreement on his stadium which also impacts the bottom line. JR can claim he's losing money but the circumstantial evidence doesn't support it and of course until JR opens his books to an independent auditor we will never know with 100% accuracy. But color me VERY skeptical he's losing a dime. Edited Monday at 05:05 AM by Lip Man 1

Shared TV money? MLB teams profit on local TV revenue, ticket sales, merchandise sales, parking, concessions, etc. However, you need to look into revenue sharing as well. For example, MLB.tv revenue goes to the central MLB fund, which is eventually divided up amongst all 30 teams for revenue sharing, along with the luxury tax, and other forms of revenue. https://www.thetribune.ca/sports/mlb/ Quote All the while, the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reported that in most years since 2007, the Pirates have been able to cover their payroll with their gate revenue (ie. ticket sales, concessions, stadium merchandise sales, and parking) alone. This does not include any revenue from national or local television, or, most importantly, revenue sharing. Under the new collective bargaining agreement (CBA) negotiated in 2022, each MLB team pools 48 per cent of local revenues with the total amount split equally between all 30 teams. This results in each team taking in 3.3 per cent of the total—an estimated $110 million USD, if not more. Teams also receive a share of national revenues, totalling around $90 million USD per team.
