Soxfest back for 2025

"But putting up a statue of Buehrle is a reminder of how thin the White Sox pantheon is. Frank Thomas is our Ruth, Mantle, and Mays. Mark is our Seaver, Koufax, and (yes) Maddux. The tenth highest career bOWAR in Yankees history is Aaron Judge, at 52.2 and counting. OK, we’re obviously not the Yankees. For Cleveland, it’s Joe Jackson at 35.0. Kenny Lofton is in ninth at 38.8. For the White Sox, only five players have a career bOWAR of over 35 (four are higher than Lofton’s) and Frank Thomas is the only one most of us ever saw play. And tenth on our career bOWAR list is the immortal Ray Durham at 28.2. Maybe the next 124 years will be better."

Appling, Thomas, Collins, Fox, Minoso, Ventura, Aparicio,

Doc White, Schalk, George Davis, Fielder Jones????   Only Schalk is known by SOME old timers.

Then you have Jose Abreu, Konerko, Fisk and Shoeless Joe Jackson.

2024 was the first time in over 40 years that I didn't attend a Sox game. It wasn't a form of protest; I just thought the team was not watchable, and I was not going to waste money on them. I stopped watching on TV as well. The team was just bad, and the play by play was worse.

I know that fans not attending games does not affect Jerry Reinsdorf.  But why should I go when the FO is making feeble attempts to build a winning team?

I am not miserable, but I am disappointed. The team continues to sink to new lows.

There has been a huge disconnect between the fans and this team for a long time. JR has never understood Sox fans. At this point in his life, he never will.

I remember JR coming to Sox Fest and actually talking to the fans. If I had been at SoxFest, I wouldn't have yelled at him. I  think it is a real shame there is no relationship between the owner and the fan. Perhaps there never was one, and that has  been a big problem forever. You just can't demand fans attend games.  You have to do something to get them there.

2024 was the first time besides 2020 Covid that I didn’t go to at least one Sox home game since I was 3 years old. I’ve  had years I was over 70 games. I did go to one game in Milwaukee, which was an L.

2024 was the first time since the late 50's when I first became a Sox fan that I didn't listen to or watch a single game.

I  have always felt a camaraderie with White Sox fans, especially those in the City and suburbs where I have friends. I feel honored to be a White Sox fan and was pleased to be among them again at SoxFest. I laugh at those who think they somehow benefit the WSox or our players with some misguided notion that they can improve anything by no longer going to games and supporting the team.  Keep your ticket money and enjoy your new camaraderie - one that includes Sox haters, trolls and Cub fans. Nobody cares if you choose to stay home and waste your life slamming the Sox and their ownership. It's your choice to be miserable. Meanwhile, I'll be watching games on TV or at games with friends enjoying life.

I’m not sure that’s the “own” you think it is.

Tauchman tossing t-shirts lol?

Looks like Thorpe was still able to participate.

Schultz is gargantuan.

Teel with the bushy moustache and Meidroth Prince Variation look.

Who actually buys a Sox jersey with the theatre name on the back lol?

JR must have disappeared quickly from the balcony...guess there's no embarrassing video out on social media, damage contained.

The thought of catching a Sox T-shirt from a veteran stud ballplayer like Mike Tauchman and potentially getting it signed by him later would send shivers down my spine.

I look at the big picture and if you said you did this, there have to be a TON of fellow Sox fans who did the same thing. I mean I have a friend in Lisle who got fired from a job because he had tickets for the Sox-Orioles playoff series (the Dybber, Britt Burns, Hoyt series) and his boss said if he skipped work he was fired. He went to the game and got fired.

This guy doesn't know anybody on the Sox roster besides a player or two, has no idea of our farm system saviors who were acquired for Crochet. He has zero interest in the Sox. I mean a true diehard. A lot of you I know think as soon as we start winning again all the former fans who have lost interest will come back. Maybe, but there are an awful lot of kiddos who have NO interest in the Sox, many probably don't even know Chicago has a team at 35th and Shields. My point: Say what you want but the longer the Sox are totally irrelevant and loser of 100 plus games, the more fans will stay away. Most people will not pay those prices for a mere baseball game that features no players worth watching and food/drink/parking that's for the 1 percenters, not the average Jane and Joe workin' 60 hours a week.

Very sad. My second year of not watching a game is upon us. I will watch highlights as long as mlb allows it for free.

That's awesome you will support the team no matter the quality of the product. Many of us could handle a down year or two, but this current thing going on is appalling. You'd think after the embarrassment of last season the Sox would try to improve the team. Instead there is no reason to believe the team has improved at all from last year. If you are willing to pay exorbitant prices for tickets (I assume you want a good seat, not some bad seat) again good for you. I don't see how a franchise has fooled some fans in thinking a second rebuild job is a good thing. The stars of the first rebuild were all stiffs, ala Moncada and Timmy and Eloy lol.

What the Sox don't seem to realize is that they are not losing so-called "fair weather fans." They are losing some of their most loyal fans. And if that is truly happening, what do you have left? Denial is strong over there.

"SoxFest quickly went off the rails. Fans without microphones shouted indecipherable questions, and most of the panelists gave canned responses inferring everything would be fine.

The loudest boos were reserved for Gene Watson after he said Sox fans would soon understand this was the “best front office” in the major leagues. It was like standing in front of a landfill and announcing it would one day become Disneyland. Sox fans were not buying it."

Poor ex Royal...the only way to top that would be the Asian "contracts guy" reminiscing about his involvement in the Witt, Jr., extension.

Where was Josh Barfield?  Seems he is the one after Getz that gets put out there front and center to handle this stuff.

Watson comes across more like another Haber or Jonah Hill in Moneyball.  Sox fans are tired of eggheads.  Just produce results.  That's it.

Balta: I don't know what that link is but what I posted was a very small part of a column today by Paul Sullivan in the Tribune which I understand is blocked for some folks, that's what I didn't post a link since some couldn't read the column in the first place.

If it’s behind a paywall that basically makes adding a link even more important.

South siders stand up? Ha. They won't stand up to support this joke of an organization. Will they come back when we get good again? Yeah, it's the nature of the fan beast but it'll never be the same with the diehards. I'm sure if we could do a thorough examination of greg's fanhood on here I bet the tone of my posts have changed so much since the years we tried and actually had a pulse in the division race.

Never said it wasn't.

Just want people to add links when they excerpt blocks of text. Not only is it one of those old standing internet rules, but come on how do I know where it came from? I can't even try to read the rest of the article without a link.
