Dominguez has significantly more control and is a lot cheaper. That said I’d rather keep Robert for now.

It achieves getting a player that could contribute to the next possible winning team, which is the whole point. The rebuild needs foundational pieces, but with the state of the org this scenario seems likely. We’d be looking to trade him for a haul by the time they are decent again. If you could theoretically get Dominguez for Robert & Eder (which I don’t think is remotely realistic) and then add a couple of positional guys in a Crochet trade (say Mayer & Montgomery from the Red Sox) then is a chance of putting together a competent lineup much sooner. 1B: <Free Agent> 2B: Baldwin# / Ramos SS: Mayer* 3B: Montgomery* LF: Dominguez# CF: <Free Agent> RF: Montgomery# DH: <Free Agent> CA: Quero# There’s a potential core there with only one premium spot that would liekly require an outside addition, but the margin for error would be thin. Still I’d take my shot on Dominguez then I hope I can do better in a Robert trade eight months from now.

From what I have read, he’s a terrible defender and passable in a corner. I think he’s an inflated Yankee prospect.
Chicago White Sox
Jim Bowden proposal in The Athletic: White Sox Give: CF Luis Robert White Sox Get: 3B Cam Collier (20 years old | Y22 1st round pick | #5 org prospect) SS Tyson Lewis (18 years old | Y24 2nd round pick | #9 org prospect) RHP Luke Holman (21 years old | Y24 CB-B pick | #11 to #15 org prospect) I would accept that offer in a heartbeat. Same article. He’s just got very weird views on things and doesn’t understand in the Red Sox deal that we don’t want a bunch of guys under control for four or five years. Yeah, it’s not like they’re the missing pieces to a team ready to compete. Dumb.
