Jim Bowden proposal in The Athletic:

White Sox Give:

  • CF Luis Robert

White Sox Get:

  • 3B Cam Collier (20 years old | Y22 1st round pick | #5 org prospect)
  • SS Tyson Lewis (18 years old | Y24 2nd round pick | #9 org prospect)
  • RHP Luke Holman (21 years old | Y24 CB-B pick | #11 to #15 org prospect)

I would accept that offer in a heartbeat.

This is an easy no. Surprised it's an easy yes for you.... nevermind i see it's for Robert

Be nice to get Edwin Arroyo instead of one of the first two guys, but that is a solid base.

I think teams are going to wait to see how Robert performs in the first half of next season before making any decent offer for him.  If he’s 2023 Robert, teams will want to pay for him.  If he’s 2024 Robert, no one will want to pay for him.

25:$15M, 26:$20M club option ($2M buyout). 27:$20M club option ($2M buyout)

This is also precisely why the White Sox might be willing to drop their price on him to move him.

The risk that no one will want to pay for him.

If you think he’s going to rebound, you keep him and trade at the deadline.  If you think this is what he is, then you take the best offer now.  Well find out how the Sox feel about him based on what they do between now and March.

What Getz just said in Merkin’s tweet above makes me think he is moving him either way.

I think there is a distinct possibility this team flirts with breaking their own record for losses in 2025.

I don’t think so just because it’s tough to be that horrible two years in a row, not that I think the overall talent of the roster will be much better this year, if at all.

Yeah I don't think they break it either. It would be ALMOST impossible to put up those first half offensive numbers again.

121 losses is going to be tough to top, but I can’t imagine a scenario where the Sox don’t have the worst record again.

It's for the best. They will be out of the draft pick penalty box for the 2026 class.

While true, imagine that roster without either Crochet or Fedde.

I think more important could well be that the environment was so toxic thanks to Grifol and the other coaches last year that this really did make the outcomes far, far worse.

The problem is you're removing your two best pitchers....including a Cy candidate, your best defensive player (unless Fletcher is now that) and most offensive upside in Robert and there's even less clarity in the bullpen than heading into 2024.

More likely he isn't getting anything significant and is trying to create the impression of the opposite.

Totally agreed.  I’m not buying this fluff.  It tells me Getz is trying to stir up his own interest cuz he intends on dealing Robert this offseason regardless of the strength of the offers.

It’s the offseason of salary dumping.  Getz had an early start with Eloy, Moncada, and Sheets.  Crochet and Robert are next.  And yes I know Sheets and Crochet weren’t due much money but it all adds up.  No doubt, this was the plan all along and these marching orders were given to Getz by Jerry.

You can't write this post about salary dumping without noting the salary they're trying to dump.
