White Sox asking for "top prospects" for Robert

Last year at this time, the FO said that they wanted to "build around" Robert.

Pollock and Mazara and Encarnacion, etc etc were bad players.

O'Neill and Sanchez are good players.

That said, Baltimore needs pitching and if they don't want to pay for it, should have been in on Crochet harder than they were.

That’s some revisionist history on Edwin. He was good in 2019 and seemed like the perfect DH for the 2020 team.

That's part of the problem - When you are buying guys in their late 30s, going for them to fill your DH role specifically because they're cheap and because your team isn't developing enough guys to fill that spot internally, there is a very high chance of it busting. Adam Dunn, Adam LaRoche, Edwin Encarnacion - 3 data points is enough to define a pattern. All of them seemed like smart signings at the time.

I don't see any point in trading Cannon; he won't deliver a top prospect; more likely a prospect who, if he develops, could be Cannon in 3 years.

At some point, they need to start building up; the pitching should make good progress toward that end this season, both with starters and in the pen.  They have a lot of good young arms as ready for the majors as they ever will be.

That's why I want to hold onto Robert: at least they have something to start with.

Along the same lines, I wonder who will be the opening day SS for this operation.

Which would you choose if all 3 were on the table?

Reds- Cam Collier, Chase Petty, Carlos Jorge

Yankees- Roderick Arias, Chase Hampton, Everson Pereira

Phillies- Justin Crawford, Jean Cabrera, Aaron Escobar

Either the Reds or the Phillies, and probably in that order.  I wouldn’t be surprised if the two Yankees position prospects are busts.

Yeah I guess I wouldn’t mind the cubs getting him for that reason.

Who fucking cares about the damned Cubs. We should care less if they are successful or not.

I won’t be surprised if he has a good first half and we’re able to ship him come deadline time.

If this happens, I will officially mark it as the beginning of our turn around.

Hell, if this happens… I will even go so far as to swearing off use of the phrase “poop” for the rest of my Soxtalk life.

Dude was 37 when they signed him.  Guys can fall off a cliff at that late age.  Jose Abreu did the same moving from the Sox to the Astros.  This is why guys that age usually only get 1-year contracts for a high dollar amount if they produced the season before.

No you won’t.  Don’t be writing checks that your ass can’t cover.

Your post is a pile of insincere 💩.

Mods - I thought trolling wasn’t allowed here

It could very well happen due to his constant injury issues.  And his performance last year didn’t prove that he always performs if he’s healthy either.  Robert’s performance over the next 3 years quite literally could be anywhere between 2 and 11 WAR.  I know that’s one bet I wouldn’t be making — predicting his total WAR over those 3 years.

1) Don't trade him
2) Phillies
3)  Yankees
4) Reds

I meant for the Reds to get a little push to make a move for Robert

Yep, all for pressure being applied to potential trade partners… the Cubs however, they can go f*** right off or they can win it all… I care not.
