The Sox should prioritize bats, but they are so far away from contention that I don’t get trading for specific positions. They need all the talent they can get, especially now.

Just said what I would prefer, not that they should trade for a specific position. I do think if they trade Robert it will be for a primary prospect who they think will play up the middle, though,

Crawford is an athlete right now who doesn’t run great routes and hits a lot of grounders, but also has great tools and held his own as a 20 year old in AA.  He is still a work in progress, but I personally think the upside is worst the risk.

Something is telling me the White Sox aren’t the organization that will teach him the things he needs to work on. Besides, if he’s taking bad routes, I don’t know how that is fixable. Going after balls is mostly instinct. If it isn’t there, it isn’t there.

Anything that makes the Reds panic and throw in their 2025 competitive balance draft pick.

Arroya

Sirota (don't know much about him, just have seen his name tossed around here)

Lesser pitcher

Competitive Balance Pick

Would people take this deal right now for Robert?

That just seems like a major overpay by the Reds.  I would think Arroyo straight up is closer to reality, imo. Reds fans are more in line with your proposal though, which is good to see.

Yeah it probably is a bit of an overpay right now. It's their #3, #14, and the pitcher could even be outside of their top 30 for all I care. Or no 4th piece needed if you get those first 3.

I think Getz wants that draft pick. And what we're thinking is too much, just listening to the FutureSox podcast, they brought up there's not many pure CFs on the market, so as Santander and Bellinger shake out, somebody might wind up on the outside looking in, and pull the trigger at close to the price tag.

If you have to think, you are already half a step behind.

Seems like Sox fans are down on Robert and would rather sell low. BTV has him around $13m in surplus (less then 3war/season). The prospects you get at that level would be pretty risky imo. If you hold onto him for the first half and he tears it up, then his surplus could almost triple. 4war would be $80 in value over 2.5 years with about $47.5m in cost.

Its a contract year for him so I would hold at $13m in surplus value.

The smart play is to hold onto him and hope he has a great an injury free first half. The problem is the guy has done nothing but let me down, so I don't know if I think it's possible.

Bellinger is the CFer there...definitely not Santander.

He would push Judge back to RF in NY.

That seems to be the MO of Getz and this rebuild, he’s doing the classic up the middle approach

Getz already said he isn't going to give him away just because of last year so I doubt he will accept 13m SV for him. He seemed to suggest it was "refreshing" that other GMs seemed to agree that he had more value than just recent results.

Interestingly, Arroyo from the Reds and Petty from the Reds both have around 13m SV each, so thats around 26-27 combined, I think most of us would take those two for Robert for sure, especially if our scouts believe Arroyo can not just stick at SS but be above average there.

Robert would look good in a Yankees uni. And...IF he is healthy, I bet would have a monster season with the protection in that lineup.

Three?  They can't find anyone willing to offer up one legit player.

Then they need to hang onto him and hope he can recover enough value to get something at the deadline. If not... oh well. He'll take the Moncada route out of here.

Or he'll go the Dylan Cease route - he'll rake for a few weeks in ST, then somebody's CF will get injured.
