Then by Memorial Day, they have a lineup as follows. Not saying it’s good but it would be interesting to follow.

1. Tauchmann (L) - RF

2. Acuna (R) - CF

3. Benintendi (L) - LF

4. Vaughn (R) - 1b

5. Baty (L) - 3b

6. Teel (L) - C

7. Montgomery (L) - SS

8. Quero (S) - DH

9. Meidroth (R) - 2b

That’s a lot of lefties!!

I think it’s a fair deal for both sides. I think Getz would like that he can right away plug Baty into 3b and Acuna into super utility guy picking up a lot of ABs between 2b, SS, and OF.

Two post hype prospects for a CF under control for three more years and who put up nearly a 5 win season two years ago would be a bad deal.

Then they just need to hold onto him, because it doesn't sound like there's much of anything out there for Robert.

So if Acuna + Baty is not enough, then what would the ask from NYM be? Is the difference worth the risk and the cost? Your risk of trading Robert now is his value is low. What does that mean trade wise? Today you get Acuna but if you wait and his value goes up you get Jet Williams? Is that gain really that much and worth the risk? If you hold onto Robert and his 2025 is just like 2024, then do you get anything for him at all?

Acuna helps fill our up the middle needs (CF/SS), has speed (which helps carry value defensively and on the bases), has a good history of walking/hitting/low strike outs in the minors and has had a good strikeout rate with his limited time in the majors.

Baty too has a great track record in the minors with walks and slugging, and grades out well with baseball savant and fangraphs defensively at 3rd.

I just get the feeling Getz will take the best offer he can get prior to the season beginning and cut his losses of risk of holding him until the deadline similar to Cease.

The difference is selling low with Cease meant getting a consensus top 100 prospect, another guy who some publications considered a top 100 prospect, another top 10 org prospect with actual upside, and a controllable reliever.  It sounds like selling low with Robert would be considerably less to the point the risk of FOMO is slim to none at this time.

So let me get this straight, we should ignore Robert’s track record and assume he’s the 2024 version moving forward, while we should ignore Acuna’s terrible 2024 season and Baty’s failures in the majors and assume they will be meaningful pieces?

Ideally it would be better to trade Robert after if he has a big first half, but the risk of injury isn't worth the wait. Trade him for what they can get and move on.

Disagree. If Sox don’t get a good return I’d rather roll the dice and see if he builds value for TDL deal. I don’t really like Robert on the Sox going forward, but the upside is too great to not get a good, viable return

The White Sox are on Deal or No Deal. Schriffen has found his calling and replaced Howie Mandel. There are 3 Luis Robert suitcases left, and the remaining values are $1, $200,000, and $500,000. The Mets offer low ceiling and/or reclamation prospects worth $1000. Deal or no deal?

I guess then why did Getz sign both Slater and Tauchman? Unless he is operating under the expectation that Robert will be gone. I wouldn't do it... But Getz has shown he would under certain circumstances imo.

Isn’t Robert’s track record also “major injury every year”?
