Like 4 years ago you could squint and see "competitive offers" and believe we would open the purse when it made sense. Now we've created a team so talent poor that even if the Sox went on a Dodgers like spending spree it would still only propel them to 78-85 wins. I don't think it was their goal of course, but it is disheartening they've created a situation so awful that simply spending money won't solve anything soon. So to talk about sending money out in trades is just lunacy. Expand Yep, and MLB has him at #92 on there top 100 list. Arroyo’s value is down because he missed the entire 2024 season after having surgery to repair a torn labrum in his left shoulder. So realistically, the Sox would need to get back another good prospect along with Arroyo to trade Robert (and eat some of his money — haha!). I see no way the Sox have that kind of risk appetite with Robert after what they have already see with his injury-prone buddies in Moncada and Eloy. They traded Cease after a “down” season rather have roll the dice, so I see no way they will take a chance entering the season with Robert. In true cheap ass Jerry fashion, the Sox will end up accepting a lesser return while eating little or no money for Robert. And the usual suspect posters will try to defend the move.
