He's still getting his toes wet in the zero entry.

Jerry dips his toes in and squeals, “TOO SPENDY!!!” and meets Getz over by the dumpster as he lights up a cigar to discuss what cheap vet they can add.

Juan Soto might never see an at bat if he signed here.  He literally might approach 400 walks per year.  He’d be a half-billion dollar 8-10 HR guy and may not drive in 30 runs.  We would likely witness one of the most unthinkable stat lines in the modern era.

.280/.850/1.200/9 HR/27 RBI/40 Runs?

Pitch counts would be down league-wide from the number of times they’d point to first.

Teams could get 2 outs on one pitch! IBB to Soto then first pitch double play.

In all seriousness though, the guy knows the zone so well that he would probably walk at least 200 times.

Lmao if we couldn't stomach Machado at 300m no way we're going after Soto.

The deals guys are going to be getting now gonna make Harper and Machados seem like bargains.

The Red Sox look even more stupid here if they sign him at $600M+. They could have signed Betts and Bogaerts for almost that total and you still walk away with a generational type player + plus Xander.

Yeah and five years from now when the going price is a billion, people will look back on it and think how cheap this deal is.

Does he wanna play up there? Taxes.

I think the contracts handed out by the Dodgers, Padres, Mets, Yankees, Giants*, Angels**, and Blue Jays can put this stupid argument to rest.

*Don't forget that they had Correa until his medicals were busted.
**Results may vary.

*And made a concerted run at Judge as well...like the Bulls, never able to land the marquee franchise-altering superstar.

***Red Sox and Cubs no longer considered legitimate compensation for every big name FA.
