I have been a White Sox fan  since I was 4 years old. I am now 68. It is  clear to me that the way to have a team that is a permanent winner would involve ownership who 1) Covers the cost of high quality players who are in their system. This would mean keeping players like: Robert, Vaughn and Crochet and others. Pay them what ever it takes to maintain them. 2) Then pay what it takes to obtain the best free agents. For example this would mean paying the price to obtain Juan Soto. When a percentage of the players that you purchase do not work out, purchase more players. Eat the cost of your mistake. 3) Accumulate and maintain the best minor league talent. 4) Build a great indoor stadium. The cost cannot be an obstacle. A winning organization cannot be a penny pinching organization. When a team make budgetary excuses they are a losing organization. If an owner cannot manage the expense, they must sell the team to an owner who is willing to afford the expense. Some may say: Well that is not realistic. Well make it realistic.

Luis Robert is injury-prone and has been up and down in his career.  He may not be worth his upcoming 2025 salary and two option years for 2026 and 2027.

Andrew Vaughn was literally a non-tender candidate, especially for good teams, but the Sox literally don’t have anyone better so they brought him back.  If he wasn’t their own somewhat recent first round pick, the Sox probably would have non-tendered him.

The rest of what you posted makes sense, but why none of it will happen can be summed up with one name…

Jerry.

How many indoor stadiums do you enjoy watching baseball in?

You want a dome and to cut off all views of the lake and downtown...then the only thing that would be special about the experience would have to be the (theoretically) successful Sox teams of the future playing to a home field advantage like the Blue Jays and Twins back in the day.

Welcome to the party Jeff.

One question - why exactly do you think that Andrew Vaughn is the kind of good player who should be paid whatever it takes to keep? I don't think I need to see any more of him after 4 years, I'm good with letting him go for nothing.

Welcome, Jeff. Thanks for sharing your thoughts. Replies like, "And if Jeff Bolker states it in a thread named after himself, it has to be true." illustrate why so many lurkers don't bother to post very often. Good luck to you if you want to fight the good fight. If not, though, this is still the place that often has White Sox news first.

Your last few posts all have the same theme of ripping on this forum.  If you don’t enjoy this message board as much as you have stated in your last four posts, you do have the option of not reading or posting on this forum at all.

Or, I guess you can continue to read this forum and make post after post about how much you hate this place.  Makes a lot of sense…

You’re right. This organization has a ton of success and deserves absolutely zero criticism.
