The reality is Burger never had much trade value and never will. I said it a year ago but he’s an annual non-tender candidate once he gets into his arbitration years.

Probably right because of his lack of defense.  But as long as there is a DH in both leagues and he keeps hitting homers, he’ll have a job somewhere until he ages out.

This what happens when you can’t draft and develop middle infielders and even your corner guys are not average hitters with the exception of Burger…who was losing value to a small market team as he neared arbitration.

Madrigal Vaughn and Sheets have all been pretty much total busts…barring a miracle in 2025.

The jury is still out on Montgomery.

Jake is going to be hitting a superball playing in Arlington in the summer.

With the new retractable dome how does the ball carry?   I remember the old park was like playing in Arizona ST where balls shoot through the infield on a really hard surface.

The first round of the Burger draft was very rough after the first two picks. Only other guys worth anything are pitchers - Shane Baz, David Peterson and Tanner Houck.

You look back as some drafts, and some of the first rounds are absolutely brutal.

Ball carries very well in the park.

Yep, so Burger wasn’t really a bad pick.  I doubt he was ever going to play good D but two Achilles tears sure didn’t help, although neither did his build.

He played better D at 1B than Vaughn imo, not that it says much.
