Just for fun to crap on them. But that starting rotation is not looking too great.

The sox are the laughing stock of MLB, but man, the O's are stupid.  I got so much joy out of watching them get swept out of the first round this season, and 2025 isn't going to be any better.  That simply isn't a play-off caliber pitching staff.

The top two prospects in the deal are good. The other two aren't interesting to me. We should be targeting younger prospects other than 4A guys.

I'd much rather of us gotten a guy like Zanetello and/or Conrad
Cason usually it's the bottom half of the trade that ends up saving these deals when one of the top prospects flame out.

Instead we got two guys in Chase Meidroth and Wikelman Gonzalez who are almost ready but don't profile to be everyday players. Meidroth has never hit for power at any level. He also according to scouts and doesn't have the arm strength or range to stick as SS.

I don't think so.  It all depends on the offers really.  If they aren't there, you're better off betting on a better performance April-June, and cashing in then.  Now if you can get a really good up the middle prospect now, and a supporting piece or two, then sure.

Yep, a strong first half next year and his stock explodes.  If you’re not getting good offers right now for him, no reason to salary dump him.

Yeah the O's keep making smart moves in the offseason signing Oneill and Sanchez.

You cannot sit on your laurels in the AL East when the Yankees and Red Sox exist, Blue Jays are the third wealthiest team in the sport, and the Rays have their farm system.

I’m not buying it yet.  They will get a starter.  Will it be enough?  Maybe not.  But they didn’t just sign Tyler O’Neill for $49.5 million and Gary Sanchez for $8.5 million to come up short on their primary need.

Expand

They have no where near the pitching they need.

For whatever it’s worth, they didn’t lose the first round because of their pitching but I get what you’re saying

I would also take that right now.

Doesn't mean they wouldn't this year, though. I hope they don't improve and it bites them in the ass strictly because of those one dudes that came and posted here.

The Cease trade looked bad at the start, Thorpe was all right but the other two didn't look that great at the time. Zavala had a long way to go and a lot of things that could go wrong, and Iriarte seemed like a wild card. That trade looked much weaker than this one at the start, and that's not even considering that Thorpe might have gotten the "Yankee prospect boost".

Expand

It was a much weaker return from the start, but Iriarte was a borderline top 100 prospect for some publications and Zavala was a consensus top 10 org guy with  upside.  And I don’t think the “Yankees prospect boost” when he was traded for Juan Soto.

I don't love the catching prospect as the main get - but I at least like that they got some position prospects and some guys with upside.  In general I am supportive of the move as well - has to be done.

imo Montgomery is the best piece they got, even though he hasn't played pro ball yet (I got no issue with people putting Teel above BM,but BM is clearly the superstar talent)

Chase Meidroth - No power makes him hot garbage.
Teel  is probably an upgrade at C and a LH bat. OK, I'm down with that part of the trade.

IMO, RFer Montgomery seems like the key player for the WSox in this trade.

On the other side of the coin, Crochet will be incredible at Yankee stadium and at Fenway. He puts the BoSox back in contention without giving up a single player on their 25 man roster. Likely a huge win for the BoSox of course, unless Crochet gets injured. Sox did a decent job of protecting his arm with inning management. BoSox will have to monitor that as well so he is there in the playoffs.

He’s shown at least 10 homer power a season in the minors that last two years.  I’m not convinced he’s Madrigal yet.  Hopefully he keeps taking his vitamins and protein powder and ends up more like Pedroia.

So upon hearing the news I suspect Crochet was thinking fucking A yes!

What were the guys thinking coming to the White Sox organization? Lucky break, earlier route to private planes and better hotels or that's the end of my career.
