Media literacy is at an all time low in this country. Jesus christ, guys.

It’s just going to get worse… on a scale you can’t imagine. Check back in after a week or 4.

Poor Corey Lee...he actually looked legit for most of the first half.

He’s a good backup catcher. We need him.
One thing I really like about this trade is that the information asymmetry is about as narrow as you can get. One guy was in the last draft, and the other guy was in the draft right before. We know as much about these guys as  once can when trading for prospects.  I would like a shortstop too, but a guy has been in their system for a while and is injured - more risk with that.

I don't know anything about these four players, but all I've heard is that this is a good trade. Also, I think Getz is doing the best he can under the circumstances. But the fact remains this is a last place team and will remain so for a while.

I don’t know that he’s a good backup catcher. Right now he’s a replacement level player. That has some use, but he has work to do before I’d call him good.

If Teel isn't the kind of star-in-progress you'd want for a player like Crochet, then perhaps Montgomery is. A broken ankle kept Montgomery from making his pro debut after being taken 12th overall last June out of Texas A&M and might have cost him a few slots in the draft. Toolsy as they come, Montgomery has an 80-grade arm, per McDaniel, that will play well in right field. He has a chance for a plus power-patience combo, but his ability to get the bat on the ball better than he has shown so far will determine his destiny.

Meidroth is a potential glue player with positional versatility and features excellent bat-on-ball skills and approach at the plate. His raw tools are mediocre, per McDaniel, and his upside is limited by a lack of power. Gonzalez has attributes as a starter -- stuff and stamina -- but his control and command very much remain works in progress even though he's now a 40-man roster player. Chances are he'll start off in the majors as a reliever with some leverage upside and, if he can smooth out the rough edges, perhaps can be a rotation candidate down the line.

It's a solid haul. It is a good enough haul? That entirely depends on whether one or two of these four prospects ascend to All-Star status ... and whether we find out if one of Boston's young stars-in-waiting (Mayer/Anthony/Campbell) was there to be had. -- Doolittle

Well, this franchise is not even close to be targeting positions of “need” in the organization. Just the top talent possible. Even if it’s 16 more catchers 😂

hell, it’s better than stockpiling first base.

Even if we have three legit starting catchers between Lee, Quero, and Teel, you will easily be able to trade one.  The odds of us having three real starting catchers is as near zero as the Sox playoff chances.

Imagine loving all these pitchers you help develop and having to watch them be traded because your ultimate boss is a cheap bastard.

I'm busy imagining the pitchers he loves being traded because they're in a rebuild, and Crochet would become a free agent well before their competitive window.

He currently has two pitchers he is developing now that are even better left handed prospects than Crochet.

I’m sure Bannister understands this but I’m sure he also thinks it sucks that Jerry won’t extend any of them.  Crochet is only 25 and age-wise, he fits their competitive window.  Money-wise to Jerry, he does not.

I guess by using the word "prospect" you might be correct, but Schultz/Smith have about a .1% chance of ever having a stretch of baseball as good as Garret had last year. Think both are really good, but 12.88k/2bb and 2.38 xFIP over 150 innings about as dominant as you can be.

As dominant as that is, we've basically seen 3 White Sox pitchers do practically that within the last 10 years. 11.8K/1.8BB, 12.6K/2.4 BB.

He himself has his work cut for him to match himself.

So all lefties just need to follow our Sale Q Rodon (2021) Crochet development plan...sounds like a FA strategy, if half of it wasn't tied to Don Cooper.

For there to be a 0.1% chance of it happening, that's a 1 in 1000 chance. For it to happen 3 times, that would mean the White Sox had 3000 pitchers in the last 10 years. That seems high to me.

Sale's 2015 wasn't that close to Garrett, but his 2017/2018 was better but Sale is a first ballot hall of famer so...

No idea who else you're talking about? Giolito and Cease? They never had numbers that close.

Sale in 2015 actually has a better K/BB ratio than Garrett.
