That is still a valuable player, but I am not sure he will ever be a star. He should start the year in AAA and would probably benefit from a full season there to work on hitting and defense. Montgomery has a high ceiling, but the ankle injury absolutely gives some cause for concern. Hopefully he is fully healthy and gets off to a strong start in the lower minors in 2025. Meidroth looks like a utility player/bench bat at the next level who could carve out a role. The fringy defense, speed and lack of pop probably prevent him from profiling as a regular, but you never know? Gonzalez is a reliever at the next level, but there's some upside there if his control can improve. Sox may continue to try him as a starting pitcher considering he was better in the second half of 2024. Are you a lawyer?
caulfield12
https://www.mlb.com/news/padres-land-10-on-top-100-prospects-list-c303185612 Padres also had ten on the Top 100 list heading into 2019...three playoff appearances, four series wins and lots of heartache as 2024 was likely their very best opportunity. This is also likely the end for the Guerrero Jr./Bichette-led Blue Jays that looked to be set up for a great run in the East.

SoxBlanco
Assuming guys like Colson and Quero don’t crack the opening day roster, what will our AAA lineup look like to start the year? EDIT: And what level does B. Montgomery start at? Edited 3 hours ago by SoxBlanco

Teel, Meidroth and Gonzalez will likely all see time at the big league level in 2025. Teel was seen as pushing Wong for playing time in Boston as early as this year. Meidroth is closer to a finished product but with major concerns about his power/XBH upside. Montgomery will likely start out in Kannapolis (Low A) and then could move to Winston-Salem and possibly Birmingham by the end of the year, it all depends on his ankle injury recovery. Interesting thought since they aren't playing in either one of the cities, yet. I'm not certain how much time you've spent in Boston, not while I agree Chicago is great, I've always enjoyed my time in Boston. But I've always enjoyed saltwater harbors.

You actually have to turn those pitchers into 5 WAR+ lefties and many other spots matter, but at least if you turn these guys into big league regulars, its a start. known as big trade league trade pieces
JPR
Sounds like son of Sam horn is very upset about giving up on that prime C and OF Montgomery. Great trade
