Squirmin' for Yermin
What a silly trade for a massive market team. You get junk, just to shed a contract (that's not terrible), even though youre 'going for it' this year.

But then you'd have to move either Happ or Suzuki, who I think both have full no-trade clauses. southsider2k5
As soon as the story drops that the Yankees are looking at other players, the trade gets done. It's like clockwork.
PaleAleSox
Cubs are just as disgraceful as the Sox from a team running standpoint. They should be battling with the big boys and they are pulling this type of stuff?

Meanwhile, the Red Sox use us to groom aces for them.

caulfield12
Not quite buying the Cubs as Central favorites over Milwaukee, not yet at least... The odds of keeping Tucker must be like 20-25% at best. Is this the new Central definition of "all in"? Francona and the Reds would be the team to watch for me. They have won 83 games in back-to-back seasons. Not good enough but not historically awful either. The Cubs had the ninth highest opening day payroll in the MLB last year and just acquired a “big guy”. Now they get to see if they can re-sign him. But have the Sox ever even acquired their version of Kyle Tucker? I’m not defending them, as I am not a Cubs fan, but the truth is that the Cubs are in a far better place than the Sox are. For what their resources are in the division they play in, they are clowns too.

I personally think he will be a poor man’s Jose Ramirez if he can fatten up a bit and add some power.

I was assuming the Cubs would try to get away with him at 2B with Bellinger at 1B. No idea how the D would work out, but would for sure have given them 1 hell of a lineup

Would also free them up to use Nico as a trade piece.

southsider2k5
Cubs fans should be pissed that with all of the financial advantages they have over all of the small market teams in their division they are choosing to be cheap af. Keep Bellinger AND pay for pitching. The Cubs are an ATM that prints money. I wouldn't have thought the Ricketts would be so cheap, but here we are. nrockway
He kinda sucks at hitting and doesn't really fit anywhere except center field. A good team probably wants a better-hitting first baseman and they have PCA to play center. Perfect fit on the Yankees, I love this for them, they look to be a better team despite losing Soto. Think the Cubs definitely could've gotten more than a reliever/salary dump though. I'd be more upset about not retaining a lot more of his salary (they gave Yankees $5m) to get back an actually good player. Maybe they spend it on a player. Unlikely. Why am I getting the feeling that Yoan Moncada will be their starting third baseman? Edited Wednesday at 03:11 AM by nrockway
