tjp1684
I wondered why we would make a move to bring aboard a guy who is going to strike out a lot, even as a back-up C. Then I thought about how he seems to fit the low cost but low reward guys we brought in last year. I would rather bring in a catcher at $1 million a year than a low reward, high cost move like Maldanado at $4.25 million. I guess the positive, Thaiss gets on base over 100 points more than his BA. If he’s a guy who can help develop our young pitches, great. If not, he’s easy to jettison.
caulfield12
This just in...White Sox on precipice of bankruptcy after Thaiss addition, offset by the $740,000 they save from their international bonus pool allotment. Yoan Moncada already enjoying his $29 million for 2024, at least. 11 hits and 11 strikeouts on the year, or $2.64 million per hit/K. Amazing production. Hopefully he invests his money wisely...and not in the reggaeton music/production industry.

Both made it to AAA and you want both to be getting regular time behind the plate. Tough to do when they’re both there. Unless you are literally alternating between C/DH every day. Sox have been promoting their promising failures to the bigs for years, punishment for going cheap on player developement

Quin
The Sox trading Cash doesn't tend to work out, especially for Angels catchers that never played for team trading them to the White Sox 1
Boopa1219
If a team who’s designed to lose 100+ games and is focus on securing the top pick in the draft can have a good offseason, the Sox are having a good offseason.

Of course, you're referring to Max Stassi, luckily the Angels paid almost all of his salary except for the MLB minimum, pretty sure they also were responsible for any buyout there as well. Jorge Fabregas was traded by the Angels to the Sox in the Tony Phillips trade, which did not involve cash considerations. Josh Paul was drafted by the Sox, released in 2003, and signed with the Cubs before he joined the Angels in 2004. What do these two catchers have to do with what @Quin posted? They both were former Angels' catchers who were decent with the Sox, or at least contributed something. Well, now Quero has been jinxed, but he never played in the majors for the Angels, so perhaps still safe from the Stassi Jinx.
