But the thing is that in over a hundred years even when teams have tried to lose they were never able to lose that many games.

This is the wildest part to me.  Those Tigers, Orioles, and Astros teams of the last generation were horrendous, and still couldn't close the deal of 121.  Plus I am not convinced the Sox were even trying to lose last year.

Oh they definitely didn't go into the season trying to lose that's for sure.

I was one of those people who saw all the "This team is going to be historically bad" posts last offseason and thought there was too much talent on the roster for that to happen. Im not going to make that same mistake again this year, these guys will need a horseshoe up their ass to get 50 wins.

Can you explain why?

This team has no starting pitching, no bullpen, and most likely no offense when Robert is inevitably moved.

They will have a roster full of kids who need to develop and AAAA level players.

This, somehow, is going to be a worse roster than the 41 win team they put on the field last season.

Explaining why isn't going to change your mind. It might just be the difference between optimism and pessimism. You can't be a coach or player with a defeatist attitude .I'd like to think there will be great progress among many of the pitchers and some of the hitters.

They only won 10 of the 33 games that pitcher started. By comparison, they won 9 games that Cannon started, and he only started 23 games.

My point is that as good as Crochet was last year, he didn’t have much impact on wins and losses.

However in a projection system for 2025 with a better bullpen, hitting and defense with Crochet the over/under probably is higher. They know Crochet is gone when they made it 49.5 .

Mike Tauchman being a complementary player on a good team is not the same as Mike Tauchman being arguably your best hitter sans Robert.

I think its ridiculous to even suggest the rotation is improved with the loss of Crochet. Who is your starting 5 right now?

This is a worse team than last years team right now, I still haven't seen anyone provide any reasoning why they will be better other than hopes and dreams.

Hopes and dreams is all we got. Youre asking people to predict the future this season of guys who barely played at all last year, underperformers or rookies . Yeah Sean Burke could be a thing, Meidroth, Sosa , Vargas, Colson Montgomery, Teel ,Quero ,Thorpe, Cannon, Coffey,Schonele,Ramos, Baldwin. You never know who can break out. So what else can you do with young players but hope and dream . That's what rebuild is all about hoping and dreaming of a better future and baby steps forward.

A lot of minor league Sox pitching prospects made big steps forward. Birmingham graduated quite a few of them and they still won the Southern League championship. We're going to see some pretty live arms in the next few years. Iriarte, Adams,Bush, Coffey. Garrett Schonele went from an aging nobody in AA in 2023 with a 6+ ERA to a 1.64 ERA and .94 WHIP in 2024 in 55 AA innings and 70 innings overall. He's 26 and LH. Hits 95 . Throws strikes. He  needs to get a shot in the BP with Adisyn Coffey.

We'll get to see how Hagen Smith, Noah Schultz,Braden Montgomery, George Wolcow, Grant Taylor, Caleb Bonemer and other draft picks look as they work their way up.

Schoenle...had to look him and Coffey up again.  They both sounded vaguely familiar.

You were mad at the people who said before the 2024 season started they could set the record for losses. Said is was just as ridiculous as anyone who thought they could get hot and win a WS. Odds are against this level of futility again, but never say never.  The funny thing is, if they go 55-107 some will probably be thrilled with the “improvement”.

say never.

When are we allowed to be happy ? I would think a  15 game improvement would mean quite a few of the young pitchers showed great progress as well as some of the hitters which would bode well for 2026 with our 2 best pitching prospects on the way.

That's the guy who thinks the White Sox only have 3 pitching prospects in the minors. It doesn't take much effort to see that the 2025 White Sox could be a replacement level team and win 50 games. But they won't let themselves say it.

50-112 would be a major accomplishment?

That just means losing another 10-15% of the fanbase unless someone really breaks out and has a legit run at RoY.

And even if Schultz or Smith was as good as Crochet in 2024...the narrative is stuck on "well, they might have a chance to not lose 100 games again in 2026 but that's going to require spending money in FA to fill in some of the holes."

So then we're all the way to 2027 and coming off five more disappointing or losing seasons to go along with 2014-2019.

And what progress...if any...on the stadium issue?

They absolutely have to nail that 2026 1-1 draft pick.  That's the only light at then d of the tunnel on the position player side of things.

I wouldn’t put money on it but I wouldn’t be shocked if the Sox win 50 games next season.  But that’s still horrible and not really any sort of accomplishment.

As bad as the Sox are I still don't loathe them like I loathe the Bears. JR might be bad but he is nowhere near as bad as the McCaskey's.

Nope. Jerry knows he’s fucking over the fans and doesn’t care. The McCaskeys are just stupid.

No.

60 wins would be a major accomplishment. Their win total doesn't really matter as long as they get out of the lower 40's.

I don't really get the hand-wringing over "losing the fanbase". If they have a team threatening to break .500 in the next couple years, Schultz/Hagen Smith/Grant Taylor look dominant, any of C. Monty/B. Monty/Teel/Zavala/Wolkow are raking - the fans will return.

Nah as much as I appreciate you Lip I'll be fine with a 15 game improvement in 2025 and 1 year closer to what you think will happen ( which is the most likely scenario).

Then that’s fine for you. Idk why it matters to you if others are happy or satisfied with that or not.

I will never get being so mad that people are shitty about the state of this franchise... and so mad they are inventing reasons to be offended.   I feel like the worst season is a decent reason for people to be incredibly skeptical about the state of this franchise.

We just saw a full house-cleaning, but sure, let's do that every 3 years, regardless.

Don't you want the team to improve ? I don't understand what you want that's any different than me ? If a 15 game improvement doesn't make u feel any better what can happen in 2025 that will ?

I will never get why you think anyone is mad. You just said you're shitty and I agree . I'm not mad you feel so shitty. I want good things for the Sox .Apparently you like wallowing in it.

Being negative and wallowing sells. People would rather complain and moan instead of look for hope. Society today.
